It was reported on CWR this morning that Sandhu is selling the freehold for Brandon Stadium. Mick Horton the Promoter didn't appear to know anything about it.

Think this has been on the cards for a long time, a very sad day when the Ochiltrees sold out.

They said Speedway, Stock Cars and the Dogs will carry on, but how long will it be before the land is sold for (yet more!) housing.

What do fellow Bees fans think about it?

we could play in black and yellow hoops - sack the elephant and have Bertie the Bee as our mascot. keep the layout of the stadium as our lot could then justify running round in circles !!!

Yet another great traditional old stadium under threat...............to provide what?? Another tranche of low quality cramped little rabbit hutches and for who exactly...........the latest wave of immigrants and social housing cases?? Our economy cannot be totally reliant on Immigration and housebuilding, its just not sustainable, there has to other ideas. Or perhaps they could build another supermarket, because we are short of those aren't we.

Not sure if this is saying the Bees will fold then? Don't they need a stadium to ride in?

No, they'll just use the Wood End housing estate instead.

It will also mean the freedom of not having to wear helmets too.

Now the initial shock has worn off, and more information is coming out its looking more and more likely Speedway, Stox's and Dogs will continue at the place for a while.

The freehold is up for sale for around a million, you all know the size of the place, so why is it so cheap? after all you only need to sell 10 houses at 100 K and you are then in profit.

The main obstruction to obtaining planning permission is the main road to the stadium, it simply cant take any more cars on it, therefore any planning applications would have to set aside mega chunks of cash to improve the road networks which is very costly.

The site over the road from the stadium has been recently refused permission for the above reason, you then have the off licence which has been trying to erect an illuminated sign for a couple of years, all applications have been turned down.

There is no way Sandhu would sell a piece of land so cheaply if there was the chance of redevelopment....

So yes, you can never say never but the signs at the minute are looking positive for the sports to continue, In fact I would have more doubts over the current speedway promotion running to be honest....
