In all fairness, give me both their clubs' positions right now. Both in a far better state than us. No club has had the shite we have been through.

Crowd was still shocking tonight.

I'd take both clubs fan bases, then we may not be in such a shitty position.

Sheff Utd are top 6 and have always had decent support, I'd imagine we would be getting 12-14k+ if we were in the top 6 at this stage of the season

I doubt it, even then 12k is hardly anything to shout home about.

They would all turn up for the one play off semi final and sing city till I die though.

Sheffield United were still getting 16k+ when they were in the bottom 4 last season.

We need to accept that we are down to diehards only. This is not a competition to find superfans and we need the team on the pitch to entice the gloating supporter into a more regular return. At the moment we are simply and sadly miles away from that.

You really, really cannot blame people for not wanting to go and watch the rubbish that is being served up on a regular basis at the Ricoh this season. A friend came and sat with us tonight as he was the only one of his regular group of ST holders to bother going. He said that he couldn't even give away the tickets of the others, let alone any additional freebies. There were many ST holders around us who were missing tonight too.

Not sure there's much point in saying 'shitty fans' and all the rest, but I am surprised by just how low things have sunk this season, a few years ago I thought our 'hard core' who would go along in absolutely any circumstances would be at least 10k - after all there were still 16-17k turning up for some horrendous stuff towards the end of the Coleman era (a 0-0 against Charlton springs to mind - I really don't get how what we have now is actually much worse than that to the extent of halving the attendance....)

You really are a dullard with your boring 'shit fans' posts. The club, by that I mean Sisu, are getting what they deserve. There'll be plenty who return when they've gone.
Credit to the hardcore who still get excited by the idea of watching them and still eat, sleep and breathe CCFC. But there's a lot of us who are finished with the club until these shit bags have gone, they've pushed us too far.
Does that make me a 'shit fan'. Yeah? Well i really couldnt care less.
I actually feel a bit sorry for those who keep dragging their arses up there week after week.

And comparing us to Sheff Utd with their (relative) success is laughable.

Sheffield United have had a promotion in recent times and have quite consistently been near the top of the table. That means a team winning games.

Last season finished 7th, the year before, 5th, the year before, 3rd.

In the 3 sesons before being relegated from the Championship they finished 9th, 3rd and 8th.

Portsmouth were champions of the Championship, runners-up in the FA Cup and winners of the FA Cup.

Success is such a big factor in attendances.

Sheffield Utd always in around the play offs and have the odd decent cup run while Pompey are fan owned so it kind of makes sense that fans turn out.

Yep, and you only have to look at the City's dismal efforts on the pitch to see why things have got the way they have.

City finishing positions in the last 10 years, 8th, 17th, 21st, 17th, 19th, 18th, 23rd, 15th, 18th, 17th.

Fans should be salivating and queuing round the block for season tickets based on that I would have thought.

Why aren't people willing to take any criticism on the chin? I've been to two games this season and have now given up. That will only hurt the club, however small, and I'm willing to take responsibility for that.

You can normally tell the rough age, wealth of posters on here by their attitude to the size of crowd.

I was so fortunate to see all the Div 1 and premier league.

Even getting the occasional 7-1 tonking at Albion (I was there).

Football was everything. From Monday, the thought of the next game was to the fore.

With so many other distractions now; Computer games, Real Madrid on the box, live radio commrntary and the SISu team on the pitch; it's hardly going to inspire anyone, least of all the youth.

It's a bit like being a tobacconist; the good days have gone.

I read a financial report yesterday that suggested that 'average' disposable income per person in this country now per month after all bills, debts and food is as low as £187 ! Less than £47 per week. I think this also has a large bearing on the pitiful crowds at the Ricoh. People demand value for the small amounts of cash they have to spend and there are plenty of choices and offers out there. In regards to football, rarely does the cost of the ticket end the outlay, it's usually the beginning !

Nah, not for me. You support a club because you support them not because they're winning stuff. IT would be nice, of course, but it's not the primary reason. Might as well go and support - checks list - Arsenal.

Especially if you are trying to influence your kids. I used to be happy with a sky blue and white scarf (probably knitted by my gran); a glass of pop that changed to beer via shandy was also part of the treat. My father has now passed, but I am so grateful for my induction into the CCFC experience.

We don't deserve this but can only do so much by ourselves, do the 3-4k who turn up at Hartlepool deserve to be relegated to the conference? Its the 15-20k missing who should be taking a look at themselves.

If you consider that success this day is mainly determined by finances and for a club in our position the main source of revenue is the fans and ticket sales, if the fans aren't turning up the team will struggle.

YEah, totally agree. My Dad took me on my 7th birthday in October '72 and have been hooked since. My lad has been going since he was three (he's now 8) and he's just as hooked and lives and breathes CCFC. No regrets.

No different to most of us. I used to take my lad and 3 of his friends every week for about 6 seasons unfortunately they have all given up at the ripe old age of 19, these are our next but lost generation.

You only have to look at the age of those around you in the ground to see that it is mostly just us old farts still hanging on

True. We used to be surrounded by people - not just kids - but there are rows of empty seats around us now.
