I don't particularly rate Collins, but I don't think any of those goals yesterday were complete howlers. Like most, I don't think he exudes much confidence, and he doesn't have a particularly imposing stature for a keeper. Luton are bound to go route one, and try and rough up our centre backs, keeper. Luckily, they only have that Morris, and centre backs with much physique. We do need to man up and organise for what will be a fairly predictable old school Wimbledon tactic, and hope we get a decent referee (if there are any available in the league ).

The second one definitely was.

You could argue he was unsighted for the first, and the third was point blank.

But the second one went straight through him, it should have been a totally routine save.

I think he could have done better with his punch for the third. He keep getting beaten near post too. That’s three in two games now I think.

He got beaten at his near post twice in 3 minutes, with shots that went straight through him.
And for the third he flapped at a ball that any other keeper plucks out of the air.

If he isn't dropped for the next 2 games he will cost us a place in the playoffs.

Kitchin’s dithering when faced with the ball, and an onrushing Collins vs Burnley is the starkest example.
The chaos around goal line clearances/scrambles vs Hull (Grimes and Latibeaudiere) and yesterday (Lati and MvE) might be said to be others.

Get this guy in between the sticks, he will stop more shots than Collins.

Wilson deserves to be between the sticks , as surely he can’t be any worse than Collins .
He’s had enough chances now & really showed in my eyes , a lack of bottle ( if he had any ) on the 3rd goal .

I know, it's a problem. I just can't see them bringing in Wilson at this point, considering he hasn't played regular first-team football for months.

IIRC (and I'm not a fan of his, although I'll support anybody playing for us), the ball for the 3rd goal was hit at him from a couple of yards away - he blocked it and the ball span away from him - not sure he had any opportunity to pluck it out of the air. The first shot came through a defender, so he was unsighted. I agree the second was annoying, in that hit went through his legs. Collins is far from what we need - particularly longer term, and it will be interesting see who FL selects for Luton.

Time for Frank to make a big decision. Farke at Leeds dropped Meslier after a number of errors cost them points. Now it’s our managers turn, Wilson surely has to start against Luton.

I don't understand any of this talk about it being a risk to bring Wilson back in after not playing for months.

Yes, Wilson may possibly cost us as he hasn't played for a while but its almost a given that Collins will if he plays so where is the risk?

Of primary concern to Lampard and his staff is how did we make so many basic errors to give Plymouth easy chances.

It wasn’t Collins fault there was an unmarked player in the box for goal 1, nor did he possess MVE to give the ball away for an easy cross goal finish nor failed to clear the lines for the 3rd.

That doesn’t mean Collins is to blame, far from it because he should have saved the 2nd and dealt with the 3rd goal better. As could the other players.

Collins is crap no doubt but there were some calamity defending which let to both goals. Simms half asleep and not tracking the player from the corner and MVE had a shocker for the 2nd. Gifted them a goal.

That whole backline including keepers (Dovin out for half a season next) needs rebuilding in the summer regardless of which league we are in.

Collins is a liability almost every game.
I doubt you'll see MVE play that badly again for some time, Collins is guaranteed to.

His position is untenable. Whatever people think about Wilson, and Iget the criticism, he's a far better option than Collins.

It would be suicide to put a youth goalkeeper with zero experience of league games into the atmosphere at Kenilworth Road

Not sure why people don't understand that players that underperform more often get more stick. Wright was fucking dog shit yesterday but some don't understand why Simms is getting more stick? Because Simms plays like that nearly all the time atm is the answer.

It's not going to happen and its silly to suggest but honestly i don't see how it can go much worse, its genuinely difficult to be much worse. If said youth teamer can make decent reaction saves he's already better than Clown A and Clown B.

Couple that with the dazed and confused look on others faces just makes me very concerned. Think they might bottle it. We need some aggression, grit and fight just as much as need talent. I hope they’re aware yesterday’s limp performance is nowhere need good enough and FL shoved a rocket up their arses in the dressing room.

But there's a 100% chance Collins does too, and about a 40% chance he throws three in

I'm definitely in the 'it can't get any worse camp' so it has to be worth chucking Wilson in, we've got nothing to lose (apart from a playoff spot lols).

I think the rebuild needs to extend to other areas as well, but yes goalkeeper is priority #1 as well as a defenders. Need an upgrade on Simms as well.

Even if you think Collins is a cracking keeper, he shouldn't be played in the next game for his own good. You can see his shakiness, frustration banging the floor he is the most unconfident man on the pitch. Playing him at this moment in time in high pressure matches, if he makes a mistake it will end his career. He needs to be protected, take the flack off of him and the staff can make the decision to retain or move on (if we can). Opposition sides will no doubt be licking their chops at seeing him in the starting line up (particularly a physical team like Luton), I'd be telling me team to get a shot away as quickly as possible and pounce on the follow up. I still don't understand how we do not have a solid backup (even at youth level) that can be called upon with a higher save percentage than 60%.

Is he though? Last time I checked, both goal keepers were in the bottom 15 for GKs.

Wilson has the benefit of being a veteran of the 22/23 campaign and a bubbly social media presence.

There must be a reason all these managers and coaches favour Collins.

On MVE, you’re right. Given that MVE was awarded the lowest match rating of our entire team, it’s just odd that MVE has got away with a genuinely terrible performance.

If Collins was partially at fault for all 3 goals and MVE still scored 0.4 lower than Collins, what does that tell you? Likewise, Sakamoto (5.8) scored lower than Simms (5.9) and the same as Collins.

There’s been moments in plenty of games where MVE has done something stupid but the nature of being an outfielder is that mistakes don’t tend to lead to goals automatically.

If you were use this forum as a barometer, you’d have thought it was Collins and Simms that cost us the game and that is completely detached from reality.

I agree it's unlikely and from Brad's perspective confirm for him that FL does not trust him.... that said if Collins makes more spills would that end his career? Certainly in a Cov shirt. Looking at his body language it's almost as if he wants someone to come in and pull him off tell him everything's okay. Maybe I'm being critical as conceding 3 would make anyone feel that way....just doesn't look comfortable

Collins was a huge part of our defeat yesterday.
Punching from under the bar instead of catching shows a player absolutely devoid of confidence and whose bottle has gone.

He needs dropping for his own sake as much as the teams.
He wasn't the only one who cost us yesterday, but he is the one who consistently costs us.

The third goal;
Pretty tame shot BUT;
He reacted early by turning his body AWAY from the ball - making his body SMALLER.
(Did not stand and front the shot up)
The ball hit his dangling arm - as he was not set/prepared for the ball, this meant that the ball just went through.them with a minimal touch- the pace only being marginally taken off the shot.
IF he fronts up to the shot and makes himself big, he either;
I) parries the ball forward and away and back behind the forward
Ii) the ball hits his BODY and moves away as a blocked shot, possibly back outside of the area.

It was WEAK goalkeeping. Best replay to see this is behind the goal.
