I had Fury ahead comfortably up to r8, but it has always been the case that the boxer who finishes stronger and gets a knockdown is likely to win a split decision.
However, their is a rematch clause so this is half time.

I agree, Tyson was comfortably ahead and started show boating, but round 8 was the turning point. Round 9 was Usyk's (just) and after that it was evens. I thought it would be given as a draw, but I really can't argue with Usyk winning by 1 round.

Usyk is an amazing fighter, and Fury deserves full credit for surviving the 8th and coming back.

All in all I think it was the right result.

Fury needs to stop the show boating and keep his right hand higher in a re-match, and he needs to work on his stamina and punch to the body more.

Fury is spot on of course. But as there is a rematch clause not much point in him dwelling on it as its all on the re-match really. Knock Usyk out and tonight means nothing really as it was a split decision. Usyk is class though so wont be easy.

Theyve already fought twice. Joshua is an irrelevance. Nowhere near either these two tonight.

Never liked the showboating that goes on with Fury…it’s a case of saying more by saying less and actually getting the job done.

Superb performance by Usyk who doesn’t get enough credit. If he was English we’d be talking him up as a great. So good. Right result but at a loss how one judge gave it to Fury. I expect him to win the rematch.

That’s the point, it’d end up as yet another embarrassment for him.

Agree with most of that although id have given it to Fury by around maybe two, but that knockdown was pivotal probably.
The showboating wastes energy, and Usyk is renown for being absolutely deadly in later rounds as he is so fit. So tactically Tyson got it wrong, but really it was always about the rematch in October anyway.

Ironic as it seemed the ref gave him a 20 second count all the way to the bell when he was seeing stars and standing only by virtue of the ropes.

Interesting. Id have given it just to Fury, but i do think the rematch will be the main event and this was just the appetizer.
I think Fury will win the rematch although Usyk is obviously class so at the moment i wouldnt be placing any bets.

£80m and no doubt both will get more in the rematch which after tonight will be a mega event. Actually i suspect there will be three fights in total if Fury wins as they definitely will have a decider.
Joshua can fuck off. Dont need him getting in the way of these two legends. Lets have a trilogy.

Yeah I knew you meant the judges. I just thought a bit rich from Fury given the treatment from the ref. Although you could argue Usyk had similar help against Dubios.

Well, he is a legend and one of the ATGs, and he knows it and has all the tools so i think he feels invincible. So the showboating is perhaps coming from the same mindset Muhamed Ali had who also felt he was way better than the rest.
Tyson though underestimated Usyk i feel as he is the last guy on earth to be showboating against. Once it went past 6 rounds i knew problems may be coming.

Fair does. All about opinions. I’ve only scrolled Twitter briefly but Stan Collymore, Tony Bellew, Adam Catterall and Simon Jordan all have Usyk as clear winner. Collymore aside, that’s a relatively sage collection of views. But if the actual judges didn’t unanimously agree what hope do we have on here.

Boxing was the winner tonight along with Saudi Arabia, both boxers put everything on the line and gave 100% and I'm just glad it didn't end in controversy.

The re-match will no doubt be another multi million pound affair and every one connected with the event will be quids in.

Let's hope the re-match will be just as good!

There's plenty of big fights still to be made, I'd like to see AJ vs Wilder, Fury vs Zang Usyk vs Wilder, Parker vs Dubois, Parker vs Usyk, Dubois vs Wilder.
And the British title re-match of Frazer Clarke vs Fabio Wardley which is my favourite fight of the year.

Anyone is gonna struggle to beat Usyk on points, feels like you will have to KO him for the win.

Not sure if it'll ever happen now, but still really want to see Fury fight AJ.
Think it would be fascinating to watch

Fury can’t complain about the decision. That’s 2 fights now when he’s been given a very generous amount of time to recover from a knockdown. He was done in that round and never looked like doing the same to Usyk

Thank fuck he's finally been beaten, typically classless after the fight I see. Hopefully him and his insufferable old man fuck off now.

I watched the fight and couldn't believe it was a split decision...I agree Fury was classless in defeat,Usyk is way ahead of Fury technically as a Boxer.

I think the fight was alot closer than people are making out , the 114 -113 is about right.. fury was cruising up until about 8

I thought Usyk won by a couple but Fury really ought to have finished him off in the 6th round. He wanted to dismantle him in the next round. Usyk looked clueless in the middle rounds but got it back together.

There's absolutely no reason why Fury can't win a rematch, the big punch in 9 changed the entire fight , fury needs to stay totally focused and stop showboating

Fury needs to hurt him badly when he's on top in the fight, preferably in the first half of the fight as this will be when Fury punches have the most power behind them.

Fury tired and Usyk just kept going, same will happen in a rematch I expect unless Fury can really hurt Usyk.

Usyk engine in the second half fight was too much.

How has Usyk an elite athlete put on two stone of muscle mass in his mid to late 30s?
He hasn't.

He's no where near as lean as he was at cruiserweight, he was probably also doing some sort of cut to keep under 200 so in reality was probably something like 210lb.

Fury could win the rematch. He’s got a big size, reach and height advantage which makes usyks performance all the more impressive.

It was the 8th that totally changed the momentum for me though. Looked like Usyk bust furys nose. Without rewatching I probably had Fury 5-2 up before that, couple of close ones that could’ve gone either way though. All Usyk from 8th. Overall Usyk by 1-2 with knockdown

Great fight. So pleased a big fight delivered. Boxing needed that

Agreed. He was dominant at one stage. His corner let him down at times.

If they rematch, Fury will change his approach like we saw in the Wilder trilogy.

AJ couldn't get close to Usyk and that wasn't the case last night for Fury.

On the three cards, I thought Usyk just was about right and even the three point gap I didn't argue at, but now seeing the round by round, there were arguments for 2, 7 or 11 being close but Palermo gave round 4 to Usyk. That was 100% a Fury round imo. Still would have been Usyk by 1 for the knockdown so no complaints, but amazing how someone far better qualified than me can see it so differently, I assume purely based on the side of the ring for their view.

The fact it didn't change the outcome and was how he saw it, possibly makes me question some of my views on what I consider real stinker decisions that I've assumed previously were corrupt, on close calls.

well, some of his corner ! . I’m a big fan of Andy lee, worked wonders with Parker. John Fury is a self obsessed bell end though

Everyone talking about rematch, not sure there will be one. Money talks so you never know but they've both got ridiculous amounts already. Usyk knows he's been in a war, he's not getting younger and could easily be a different decision. He has nothing else yo prove. Undisputed, undefeated, cleaned up against all the names, multi-weight champion and 37 now. Its not a bad legacy, why spoil it.

Contracted. Pretty sure it was said only the loser can pull out? Unless Usyk retires..

Saudi will pump the money in. If they did fight in October, it would still be a huge fight.
