Apparently the penalty might have crossed the line as well.
Brentford had a last minute pen vs Doncaster which had they of scored they'd have gone up automatic promotion, Trotta hit the bar and it rebounded out and Doncaster broke away and scored
One of the worst footballing feelings in my life, we were a couple of inches away from being in the Championship.
A roller-coaster of emotions!
1--87 mins: Hope, this is our destiny , we are controlling the match , having the best chances, hit the post etc..
88mins: we think we've blown our chance
89 mins: 4th official puts 4mins of injury time.. "we can do it"
94th min: penalty given.. "this is it , all the heartache will be banished, 6 play-off losses wiped out, local derby against QPR next season"
94th min: players arguing over the penalty, eventually Fulham loanee Trotta takes the ball, club captain Kevin O'conner running over to the bench shouting at our manager that he should be taking it finger pointing etc..Manager saying "he'll sort it out"
94th min: Despair as Trotta smashes the ball against the crossbar, players dive in trying to keep it in the box, ball eventually breaks free and towards the halfway line where it's 2 Donny players against the keeper, they score away fans go mad , Donny bench clears onto the pitch and we watch them claim the championship...
95th min: Men , women & children in tears as we are consigneed to our 7th play-off appearence, biggest let down in years!
I'm sorry....but there is nothing more pathetic than grown men crying over a football result....its only a game FFS....its not life and death....and frankly Mr. Shankley, it certainly is NOT more important than that.
