I have been a season ticket holder for 30 years. During that time I have been fortunate to go to about 70% of away games so I guess you could call me an away regular.

During the league 2 / 1 seasons and even in the Championship after relegation away tickets have been easy to get (with the exception of Exeter a few years ago)

Demand was always going to be higher this season due to a number of factors - fans returning to stadiums / the team playing well / feel good factor / bandwagoners etc

Part of buying a season ticket is the guarantee that you have priority on away tickets and is one of the benefits - it does not though mean a guaranteed ticket.

Reading through this thread, I have a problem with supporter clubs having guaranteed ticket allocations - paying an annual fee of £10 should not get you priority over season ticket holders. In addition, the club should not advertise 1300 tickets if, for example 200 of these go to players/staff/supporter clubs.

I am fortunate where my parents are retired and I have a flexible job where I can log online generally and be one of those who refresh every minute. If I miss out on tickets through the correct process then fine, I’ll deal with that. But it’s not right that some appear to be jumping the system…

I look forward to seeing such a demand for tickets for Middlesbrough away in January

I'd acknowledged the second part after Shmmeee posted the link above. The first part in the same article says that of those who paid for Ricoh Return Membership, there was priority to people who had either a ST in the last Ricoh year or Stans first. I can't imagine many weren't both, but there is a distinction in that article.
That means priority to renew your season ticket, we had a couple of weeks were we could renew before others could order STs.

Its not the same as priority access for tickets this season? if thats what you are saying?

Just to say i dont actually agree with people getting priority over others at all my initial rant on page 1 or somthing mental is that Ticketmaster is shit and didnt work correctly.

Phase 1 here, season ticket holder for many years, didn't get any tickets for Bournemouth despite refreshing my laptop for about an hour. Now I may be naive, but I had never heard of supporters clubs getting tickets up front. I don't really have any feelings either way on it, but if this is what goes on the club should have been up front to all supporters about this at the beginning of the season. At least then supporters would know what they were up against for small allocations

Luton this season went pretty quickly too.

Be interesting to know how many went direct to various supporters clubs for that one.

Luton I got on at 10am when they came out and was not an issue getting them. Supporters clubs came on a minibus, so they didn't get many but I don't know the numbers although if you really wanted them they didn't all sell out on priority day 1. It was midweek and we've been there a few times recently so people weren't desperate to get them.

Rob, is it they didn't get many allocated from the club, or as you mentioned it was midweek, people having been to Luton a few times and not as exciting a prospect as Bournemouth away on a Saturday (plus new ground for many) so did the supporters club not take up the full allocation that the club gave them

I do think the phase 1 and phase 2 holders should get access to away tickets at the same time.

I also believe membership clubs should not have priority/guaranteed access to tickets.

Its funny how members of clubs who get access to tickets not just CCFC matches don't appear to have an issue with it. The dodgy ticket scheme from the club explains a lot when the same fans appear at away matches all the time.

Do box holders , Vice Presidents and associate directors get preference because of the amount they pay?

At the Millwall game the london supporters club had about 20 tickets (maybe more or less) in prime location centrally located. All bunched seated together. I know as i was asked to move.

It also should be noted that these supporters groups get the best seats. Ie they arnt Restricted view or in the corners!

I think and don't quote me as I'm not part of it, but they request a number of tickets and then commit to taking them and paying for them. I guess they requested a smaller allocation. I know in the past with L1 & L2, even when there were spare tickets available, if they had taken 50 tickets they had to pay for them even if only 40 went and the balance came from the supporters club funds.

It was also in fairness why L&W asked for members to be listed and ensure enough season tickets to cover which I don't think others (B&N or Southam) do and in fairness to them they do spend out sponsoring players and 3-4 games per season too. Others spend a few quid and expect a lot more, but as I say that's history and I have no current association. The part I disagree with about most is if they are selling them on as some reported earlier in the thread. That would never have happened with the previous regime it was kept tight for those reasons and anyone doing it wouldn't have been welcomed back.

I think more needs to be said about this. Phase 2 member having a ticket due to being in a supporters club. Not mine was sent via Dm.

Unless they gave paid for a membership and not the small extra fee for a season ticket, this is wrong because it should show you Birmingham at home instead.

Genuine question, how many of our away games haven't made general sale? Quick look on the club website shows the last few games have all had tickets available right up until the game and in most cases pay on the gate was an option. If its the same fans at away games all the time its not down to some dodgy ticket scheme.

I'm a bit confused - why would supporters' clubs need dedicated tickets anyway? Surely the hardcore fans are high enough priority that they can get tickets through the normal channels anyway?

Am I missing something?

There was a post earlier in the thread that said the tickets for supporters clubs are for those that meet the priority. If they're going to others in the clubs who don't have priority I would guess its similar to someone asking a phase 1 elite to get them a ticket.

Don't think its being suggested that the tickets to supporters clubs aren't going to people that go every week. Isn't that the point? They get the tickets for every game because they go to every game.

I'd just bring back away season tickets next year. How many people genuinely go to every away game? 500 should be enough I'd guess - based on no data whatsoever.

But that's kind of my point. Isn't this all then a bit pointless sending them out to supporters' clubs, as those self-same fans will get them anyway? Hasn't all this done is create a pointless argument? I mean, I know we like them on here, but this didn't even need to happen!

It's happened because it takes the stress out of getting a ticket for them. And pretty much guarantees one.
No logging on clicking refresh or ringing the ticket office. Not a problem when there was no demand.

I’m pissed off because these pricks have the tickets handed to them when I wasted two hours refreshing a website that didn’t have tickets available to me even though were the same priority period.

They’re being given preferential treatment because they’re in a group and it’s not on.

I don’t even care if a couple of high value sponsors get a guaranteed ticket but advertise it, sell them properly and be transparent about it.

I don’t care if it’s been fine up until now. We’re at a different level and we need to act like it.

Correct, you’re effectively guaranteeing tickets to the privileged few for games that the rest of us have no guarantees on and thus battle it out on Ticketmaster and queue outside the club shop for… and often miss out on.

I can’t believe we’re 22 pages along and some people can’t yet grasp this.

As a forum, is there anyone at the club we can we voice our concerns to? I have asked for Dave Boddy’s email from another member but not had a response yet.

Even when it's big allocations and we're not going to sell out I'm not bothered. Let them have all their tickets and sit with their tweed wearing pals.

It doesn't take a genius to work out why this is an issue at small allocations though. They cannot be doing this for baggies, blues Fulham etc.
