Skysports.com understands that Jay Bothroyd has undergone a medical at QPR.
The 28-year-old striker is out of contract after his deal with Cardiff expired at the end of the season.
Attempts to sign Bothroyd is thought to have moved a step closer with the England international having had a medical with the Premier League new-boys on Monday.
The former Arsenal trainee was rewarded with a surprise international debut last November before he finished the campaign with 20 goals as Cardiff reached the Championship play-offs.
Bothroyd has a career total of 88 goals from 354 appearances having also had spells with Coventry, Perugia, Charlton and Wolves.
