Agree with most, but could've been different and they ripped us a new one through middle and down left first half. I'd take a point off Eccles, Sheaf and Bidwell and then they're about right imo.

I’d say Collins & Thomas were equal mom first half, top saves from Collins and some superb defending from Thomas, second half had to be Sakamoto again, he must be a nightmare for defenders, what a find he is.

Tats & Collins 9 . Thomas another solid 8 along with MVE. Banks understandably a bit off the pace.
Excellent second half performance

Impressed by how Thomas has stepped up in Kitchings absence. Was a bit worried he would look a bit lost but he did really well.

All three Barnsley lads look good buys.

Would be happy to make Binks permanent if the money is sensible. Lati, Binks, Thomas and Kitching not many better than those and all are still progressing

Can’t agree reference Binks he’s a really good player, upright, good passer of the ball, just takes the ball off players only 22 too.

Mad to think Thomas is 22. Unbelievable signing. Will be a top championship defender at the very least.

Sheaf 6? I’ve been critical of his stray passes but thought he was great today. Up there with Saka & Collins for MOM shout

A few real harsh scores for Simms He was good bar his miss. Did very well for the goal. Hadji made the correct decision just as Simms did last match. Great they are both getting in the right places. Bodes well for me, feels like he is at the same point Wright was before it all clicked.

Really hope he makes people look stupid

No evidence for that at all. Perhaps 6 is a bit harsh but he looked lost in the first half and though improved in the second gave the ball away sloppily a number of times.

I wish we had someone else to bring on for him. I do feel bad rinsing Godden as he's been a very important signing for us but he really is done as far as I'm concerned. He's invisible.

To add to the above:

Palmer superb again when he came on - just a shame he can't play with COH in this formation.

Kitching's return will give us more authority at the back which was missing early on.

A top class 8 to pair with Sheaf will give us a whole new dimension.

We have the momentum.

Got to disagree with some comments here. Collins was in no mans land on one occasion and was saved by Thomas on the line. he also failed to come catch a couple of easy corners and punched out when catching was easier. That apart he made some good saves. So a mixed bag. Score: 7

Thomas is accomplished but was culpable for their headed goal. he was out jumped and failed to get in front of his man. Did that on a few occasions actually. Score: 7.5

MOTM: Sakamoto without question. Energy, quality crosses, defending, two sharply taken goals.

We miss a player that can make those decisive through passes which they were doing first half, cutting us open, Eccles slows us down too much at times, even when he has time on the ball his first instinct is to play backwards that said it was a fantastic TEAM performance from the lads and Saka just a whisker away from getting a hatrick and the ball over the top to Hadji...wow .....e i ei ei eio up the table and all that been a great festive season watch us fuck it up against Oxford

I've stopped getting my options on the new players from SBT. I just ask the miracle fish I got in my cracker, and go off that. Far more reliable and less erratic

Let's hear it for that lovely little first-time flick that took out two Swansea defenders at a stroke and cleared the path for Wright to surge forward and score.

He can do it, but seems not to be able to with sufficient regularity. And I'm a fan

Palmer can rip defenses apart with clever play but he does that very differently than Hamer. It takes more time on the ball for him to be effective.

Palmer likes to engage people at close quarters bringing people onto him then put the ball through into space. Hamer just had a knack of seeing space and finding the right pass before teams could react. That and his tenacity in winning the ball back meant he could turn games in an instant. We definitely miss that.

Really enjoying Palmer since his comeback he can offer loads, just not in that Hamer role

Yeah it wasn't just the passing, it was the ball carrying and surging from deep that we miss. Middlesbrough had it in the first half, breaking through our press and then driving at the back 4 looking for those passes.
