Thought it was a very 7.5 performance from the whole team really against a good Boro side. A few probably stretch to 8s but overalls just a decen day at the office for everyone in the end.

Yeah came on, made a chance for himself from nothing after getting elbowed in the face, and came close again later on. He’s a good player that we’ve only really seen glimpses of so far and people love trying to be like “seeeee he’s not that good, he missed a chance!”. No one is saying he’s the next Pele either, he’s just a promising young player and the calls for him to start games were not unreasonable at all.

He's a young striker who looks very exciting. Gets to balls many of the others wouldn't already and for his age is absolute leagues ahead of anything that's come out of our academy for many years.
Looking forward to seeing him develop.

He’s such a different player to Vik they are basically incomparable for me.

I’m not exactly sure what people want to see him do? I definitely don’t want to see him be a Brandon Thomas Asante. You don’t need two BTAs in a team.

I just compare the Wright from today to the one against Luton Town. Against Luton Town, to me at least, he had the bit between his teeth and played with more aggression, almost like a man possessed. Today I don’t think there was as much aggression. Crikey, I’ve still given him a 7, whereas I think I gave him an 8 against Luton Town. I respect your opinion that you feel he deserved minimum of an 8

And fwiw, I know he is not Gyökeres, I doubt we will see another player in a Coventry shirt take a game by the scruff of the neck like Gyökeres did…that is why he is now an £80 million striker. Wright is clearly the most valuable asset the club has, and is obviously incredibly talented. I have certainly never been one to refer to him as ‘shite’…and I even offer the respect and courtesy of spelling his name correctly.

Listening to the That CovPod podcast a couple of weeks ago, I scoffed at the thought of John Dawkins that he would sell Haji Wright for a loss. At oresent I don’t think you could sell him for less than the £12-£15 million bracket

Well, as good as Gyokeres was and clearly is now, even he went missing / was marked out of the game twice against Middlesbrough!

Also, you’d be correct to scoff at anything that clampet says.

Wasn't referring to you personally but Wright gets a rough ride from many. Most of whom spunk themselves silly over crud like Max Biamou or Ben 'The Clown' Wilson. Feel like we don't deserve good players sometimes.

It's not a recent phenomenon. I remember Stern John getting dog's abuse for most of his time here for being 'lazy' at the same time people were gagging for Michael Doyle

I remember Chris Waddle getting called lazy because of his languid play and body language when in fact he was one of the hardest working wingers in the league

It was more a case of Wright doing that lackadaisical approach. I appreciate he scored and got an assist, but did the disinterested part as well. If he had put in a bit more effort I would have given him an 8. Thomas Asante did get into good positions on occasion, and was close to getting a goal, and offered good shithousery

Would any other fanbase consistently criticise their best player? I will never understand the wright criticism.

Wright is a bigger goal threat than Vik was. Per touch of the ball I'm sure Wright's stats will be superior for us.

Wright plays in a better overall team tbh. The setup we played with Vik simply couldn't work with anyone else I don't think. Vik in this team, alongside Wright even, would be a monster.

My goodness, it is just my opinion. I compared Wright’s performance today against his performance against Luton Town when I thought he was our best player. In my opinion, today he was not as aggressive as last week. Last week he showed what he can do when he really turns it on and set a benchmark…this week I did not think he was on it as much/up to that level, and marked him down by a point for that. Maybe ‘disinterested’ was a disingenuous description.
As I said in a later post, I have never doubted his quality, and know that he is the most valuable player in terms of quality and value in the squad

Wright seems more clinical infront of goal to me. Vik was known for carrying the ball and getting us forward, but Wrights running with the ball recently has been ridiculously dangerous

I really don’t get the criticism of Torps defending.

he had 5 tackles in 60 minutes of game time today.

Eccles and Sheaf between them has 5 over the course of the 90

Yeah don't get the criticism. He has sharpened up his tackles and has good work rate.

I think what has helped him is moving up the pitch a bit. He can get caught on the ball but that's because he's always looking to make a pass or try something risky but rewarding. Absolutely don't that coached out of him. Much less risky to let him play his game as a 10 than an 8 or 6

Thomas 7.5 MOTM for me, scored, interception of Dovin's blunder and general defensive play. 6.5- 7.5 for the rest bar Dovin I give 6 for clean sheet only, but he worries me.

You're entitled to your opinion.

I think my frustrations are with the comments I hear after every game, even when he scores, from the wider fanbase.

I hear you 9. But I see Dovin’s distribution as excellent and we may finally have a top class keeper with potential. All players at every level have a mistake in them - let’s not forget that - so we should give our own young players some slack if we see the obvious potential that is there.

Playing deeper he plays within himself, scared to try the pass in case it doesn't come off and the team are immediately under pressure. Further forward he plays them as the danger is mitigated somewhat.

Just back. We were decent, deserved the win, but fine margins and that bit of luck again that had deceived us until recently but could've been so different. Their striker tried to cheat MVE off early, some refs might've fallen for it, their guy definitely deserved a second yellow but again sometimes early the ref doesn't give it. Defence also gave up too many chances and Dovin on another day got away with a howler.

But ... we got a clean sheet and that hopefully gives him the world of confidence going forward.

I thought big performances from Milan, Sheaf and Wright. Great goals from Thomas and Eccles, Torp and Brandon worked their socks off, great cross from Tats. Was worried for Rudi getting a second yellow and probably would've taken him off a bit sooner, but thankfully didn't cost him or us.

Not going to score them but MVE motm.

Ayling an absolute shithouse horrible player. I've never wished injury on a player having suffered a bad one myself, but wouldn't bat an eyelid if he got a career ender.

I sincerely hope your right in your assessment of him. I rated him only 1/2 point lower than other players today on the basis of what I saw. I wouldn't and haven't written him off by any means but being old school I like to see 1st and foremost that a goal keeper commands his area to protect against conceding goals, this, I haven't seen to much of yet . Youngsters like Thomas, Torp, Rudoni and others I am at the moment more optimistic of improving with game time.
