Coventry City manager Aidy Boothroyd faces a dilemma when deciding whether to sign the exciting prospect Francis Laurent.
Laurent is available on a free transfer after the winger was released as a money saving measure by financially troubled Southend United.
The dilemma facing Boothroyd s whether to sign the 24 year old and then try to develop the player into something special, or to use the funds to procure the services of an experienced player instead.
Boothroyd has admitted he rates the winger very highly and would like to sign him, but he has to prioritise his budget.
Boothroyd explained the situation by saying, “There are still players I’d like to bring in and they fall into two categories, core players and players you want to develop. Francis is in the development category."
"I think over time he could be a terrific player for us but I don’t think he’s ready to burst on to the scene right now and I have to prioritise, look for the guys who can get us up the league this season rather than the ones who might win it for us next year.”
i heard the player did well in pre-season but he is a winger from southend, doesnt scream top class to me.. Do think we shud sign him though, more competition places is always good and apparently on his day he can deliver the goods. For the first season i can remember in a long time we hav competent wingers on both sides capable of delivering a good ball into the box, with a bit of match practice jukes height and freddys poacher deadliness lol, can pose a real threat on the attack.
Welcome to the site hamil99 :welcome: Just cause hes from "Southend" doesn't mean he can't be a good championship player they had the get rid of him as they are in financial difficulties and need to cut there wage bill I think he looked really good against WBA and will give some competition for David Bell.
