Bolton in high court owing approx 1.3 million to 3 companies including HMRC - they now have a two-week stay of execution - They own their ground and training ground and have a potential buyer in the wings and have been given two weeks by the court to sort out
The following is all pretty much guesswork from reading the news and no facts- It seems on paper that the club is worth 1.3 million if that is what the high court is demanding - If the new buyer pays these creditors within two weeks it seems he has himself a football club - Could he t then form a new company and then not be liable for any other debt - if he then has a float of a further 5 million to cover wages and overheads for the rest of the season it seems he has a football club currently in the championship for approx investment of 7 million - not taking into consideration there may be players on the books worth some money and of course he has money coming in the door with gate receipts and next season ticket sales - Of course depending who it is may have further deep pockets for new players etc - The question is looking at these facts how is our club worth more than 7 million? with basically just a name as a saleable asset against Bolton with a ground and training ground
Bolton don’t own their training ground, however I’ll give you they own their ground. They also have a fair bit of external debt, which any new owner would have to pay off (this is including the tax debt.)
When people look at what other teams have been sold for, they forget that on top of the the value for the club they take on the debt.
Our debt is owed to SISU (admittedly through very creative accountancy) they effectively want the value of their debt back.
Besides who are we to tell a private company what to value their asset at?
Apparently the supposed new owner already owns a stake in another club so have to offload that first before they can complete the takeover. I hope for Bolton’s sake it isn’t SISU.
