I was speaking to my friend who supports Everton and he has stated they have been linked with Bobby Thomas for around 7 million. I couldn't see any bump of his thread or a new thread so don't know if it has been discussed already and I did not want to read 18 pages of the transfer window thread as it's usually just bickering.

I imagine most of us would not be happy with selling Thomas this window

In three days of inflated transfer fees they have to pay at least double that .

I'd be surprised if Lampard would let Thomas go for £7m in our current position.

Maybe Everton could include an add-on to the £7m, like pissing in our mouths in the centre circle before kick off tomorrow.

Bobby isn't leaving this window unless someone pays massively over the odds and we have a replacement

We could loan him for our next 2 fixtures. Other than that. No chance

It would have to be £20m to even consider selling him at this point in the season with our current situation.

Would you take £7m with a loan-back and use it to try and sign Hughes now or in the summer?

No. You're not getting Hughes (or similar) for 7mn (now or summer).
Thomas has potential to be worth more.

but what if that £7m allowed us to capture Hughes for £15m?

I know there are more than a few that don't rate our centerbacks but there is zero chance we sell Bobby for 7m, especially in January.

We'll value him far more than that. He's in a few championship TOTY he way higher rated than we given him credit for and miles off the prime age for a CB.

Is Hughes twice as good as Thomas?

If we didnt take £8m from blades in the summer, I highly doubt £7m will get him in January. Considering January is more about sellers market. £10m, maybe. £7m, dont see it personally.

It was just a hypothetical question.

Personally I wouldnt be selling him at this stage.

We have a solid first choice defence in this league. The back up is ok at all bar LB.

Exactly the same for me as when this came up in August. It would only help other people and not us unless the offer is stupidly good.

There is no logic in selling one of the best CBs in the division to a PL club to part fund the purchase of another very promising CB but where we still have to shell out several million quid.

Hull’s (understandable) reluctance to let Hughes go only increases Bobby’s value.

I'm glad

Can chalk this down as a bad rumour then and unfounded. Don't know where he heard it.
