Can I ask those in the know do the security cameras work and if so why are the security not reacting to possible incidents .IMHO think some of the so called security are watching the match instead and not doing their job.The amount of security at some games is way over the top.

I struggle to understand those seeking to justify this.

Are we that much of an outlier as a club that measures not in place anywhere else in the country are required here?

17 years after opening, without there ever being a single issue of note in that part of the ground, after a season with 0 incidents, some plank in One Friargate has decided to effectively close a popular part of the stadium on safety grounds. Can't possibly have people enjoying themselves. Clowns.

I dont agree with this. But can understand and see the point...its simple risk reduction to the point of eliminating the risk.

Theres swathes and blocks of empty seats. Until we sell these.

Blocks 2/3 wont go back on sale.

I agree I have sat in block 1 or 2 for the last few years. There’s never been any trouble down there - sure there has been some verbals and mockery but surely that’s part of the experience isn’t it, or it supposed to be like going to church?

The Sunderland game has been mentioned- there was no hint of trouble just a great atmosphere. If the authorities are that concerned about the potential risk move a few more stewards and police from protecting vast swathes of empty seats behind the goal where the away fans are to the corner near block 3.

Crazy decision.

Yeah, if it was logistically possible (getting away fans in and out safely etc.) I'd like to see part of the North Stand given to them. The shaded South would be an awesome home end.

The Ricoh has been open nearly 20 years. How many times have away fans breached segregation at either side to attack fans?

None.

Port Vale tried once and got stopped by one police officer.

I suspect if you made that point in a SAG meeting they would all start congratulating themselves on how effective the measures they put in place have been

Part of the issue here is there's 10K empty seats every week, there's not really a huge incentive for the club to push for change. Might be more effective if someone like Simon Gilbert gets onboard and starts questioning why CCFC have measures way above and beyond every other club in the country

It's an absolute joke. Nearly every single premiership club sells out and like our game vs Huddersfield the stewarding separates fans. Give idiots space to move into and they normally do. That is why Derby last season and Luton this season to name 2 I can immediately recall advanced towards our fans. The psychology the club appear to be deploying makes no sense and appears to be without precedent given what we see working well week in and week out at the major football stadiums in the UK.

The issue is not atmosphere at the expense of safety though.

The issue is atmosphere at the expense of the perception that there might perhaps one day be a bit of a safety problem, even though other grounds seem to manage without problems despite not having such measures in place.

How far do you take that thinking? People might get injured driving to the ground - better stop selling tickets altogether???

The only incident there’s led to this are grown men doing wank signs and shouting abusive and offensive at words at other adults cause they were supporting a different team

maybe If people behaved like grown ups we could sit together

There argument would clearly be that if there are empty seats in the stadium why have fans close together and allow them to antagonise each other. What they don't get is that segregation actually emboldens them to antagonise fans even more because they think they're safe.

Like the dickheads at the zoo that taunt the lions and gorillas because they're behind some bullet proof screen. Bet they wouldn't be that cocky in the actual enclosure.

Or to put it better:

Pete,

As grown men, doing wank signs and shouting abusive and offensive at words at other adults cause they were supporting a different team is precisely why we go to the match. Football is a distraction from real life, and passion is welcomed.

As many on here have said already, apropos away games, minimal segregation adds to the atmosphere but does not lead to an increase in violence.

It’s not to annoy you
It’s not to make the atmosphere worse

Why has it been made?

These are the incidents we've had over the last couple of seasons, correct me if I'm wrong:

Derby fans allowed to encroach considerably towards City support across segregation.

Lone city supporter encroaches across segregation and slaps Derby supporter.

Fan invades pitch from around block 22/23 against Preston.

Fan invades pitch from around block 22/23 against Sunderland.

Tell me how ticket restrictions in14/15 and 2/3 prevent any of those incidents?

Because someone has massively overreacted to something that happens in ever ground in the country. It is something that shuld be challenged in the fans forum.

If you aren't able to challenge things like thi sthen maybe someone else should be going to these on our behalf?

The stadium should be intimidating, not a library. Why oh why are they trying to sanitise it, other clubs thrive on creating a atmosphere.
