FIFA president Sepp Blatter has declined an invitation to give evidence about World Cup bidding allegations to a Parliamentary committee.

Blatter has told the MPs on the culture, media and sport committee that FIFA is focusing on their own investigation into claims of bribery.

The allegations that two FIFA executive committee members were paid 1.5million US dollars to vote for Qatar 2022 were contained in a Sunday Times submission to the committee that was made public by members under parliamentary privilege.

A FIFA spokesman told Press Association Sport:
"FIFA has immediately asked both the Football Association and the Sunday Times for a report on this matter.

"With this in mind, FIFA has informed the culture, media and sport committee that it is focusing on its own investigation and that there is therefore no need for the FIFA president to attend the committee."

FIFA members Issa Hayatou of Cameroon and Jacques Anouma from the Ivory Coast have denied the claims, as have Qatar's World Cup bid team.

I'm sorry and we're surprised by this how?

I'd never wish any ill on anyone, but blatter comes extremely close to breaking that. Sooner he sods off the better for the world.

Jack Hayward quoted as saying "If anyone in England seriously thought I would vote for them they need their head examined. Not for a knighthood, not even for an Earldom."

No point Blatter attending, he would never give a straight answer to a straight question if his life depended on it.

Jack Warner is a hateful old crook who should have been run out of office years ago.

FIFA and corruption have gone hand in hand for years, and in all probability always will unless nations like England, together with a few others, decide they have had enough and form their own international association. Until then we will have to put up with the likes of these two, a truley sickening thought.

There is allegedly evidence of corruption sitting in a Swiss vault somewhere. The Swiss Government are demanding the data and are threating to kick FIFA out of the country unless they receive the data by Xmas. FIFA are worried about this one....

No way they'll hang out one of their own to dry. If Blatter wasn't Swiss they would probably have released it but he must be one of their mst famous modern citizens and probably a celebrity there.

I concur with everyone's views about Blatter, but why exactly would the British Government want to carry out an investigation into FIFA corruption? I'm not surpised that Blatter has declined. Having said that I find it even more disturbing that FIFA is trying to investigate itself........a bit like the cops investigating the cops innit? What it probably needs is some kind of independant investigation into this farce of a footballing body. Dunno who that would encompass....but I'd volunteer. The older I get, the less crap I'm prepared to take off anyone. Grrrr!

While i completely agree that they are so corrupt they can't see the forest for the tree's i doubt us pulling out will do anything.
We should have pulled out before the world cup bid to prove a point... If England pulled out of FIFA, FIFA would love it, they hate us an our reputation as the 'birthplace of football'.

Plus, its self defeating for our youngsters... Could you go into a dressing room and tell the 19 & 20 year old's that they'll never be going to a world cup? Its what every footballer dreams of!

I still can't get over Qatar hosting a world cup, it would be extremely funny if it wasn't true.

Replace this bumbling so called world body with another rival one and switch. Most would follow England because the media would back it and that is where the money is. A new World Championship. It could easily be done and the end of FIFA for good. Blatter has used it as a political football for far too long.

On our own I don't think it will change a thing. But together with a few other countries I reckon an organisation that could rival FIFA could be up and running in a few years.

England cannot be the only country that is utterly sick of these crooks running the biggest game in the world. It is interesting to see that it is the American, Chuck Blazers (surely a comedy name) that has blown the whistle on Jack Warner. Maybe the yanks have come to the view that it is time to sort things out one way or another.

As for the young 19 and 20 year olds, they would have the honour and opportunity to play in a competition that has not been corrupted by the likes of Blatter and co.
