Have to say though, I think I am the only one on the planet who likes the voiceover version. I was very much brought up on the film noir detective thrillers of the 1940's, with Humphrey Bogart and Sam Spade and Philip Marlowe, the Big Sleep and the Maltese Falcon etc.
So often the main character would use voiceover describing the environment around them and the thickly woven plot.
I therefore totally bought into that with Blade Runner, but it's that V/O itself that a lot of critics had a problem with.
Would like to revisit it again at some point, having only ever seen versions without the V/O since.
Yeah, I liked the VO version too, but they only did that for the American market. Also the happy ending with the car driving giving the impression they are escaping together for a new life. That was an outtake from The Shining.
When I went to the cinema at the time it came out, Torch, I'm sure I saw the voice over version here in the UK. Saw that and only after that I saw the version with the voiceover removed.
It's a good job they tagged it on or the premise for the new film would suffer. On a sidenote Torch, knowing how you like a good soundtrack I think you will like this one, in a similar atmospheric vein to the original.YEah, that's right. Preview audiences were also concerned that Deckard and Rachel died hence they tagged on that sequence pinched from The Shining. It's a fascinating book.

Yes he was brought in to take over from Johann Johansson, the director said he wanted something closer to Vangelis. I wouldn't mind hearing what Johannsson was working on in any case but you can't fault the director as the score fits the film very well.Yes, I managed to download the Blade Runner 2049 soundtrack and Hans Zimmer has done an excellent job and has retained the atmosphere of the original. Unfortunately, the new soundtrack isn't available in any physical formats yet, but I'm sure it will be eventually.
