I think we have a good chance, our U21 Squad that we have been using should be suitable to get us through the first round! I might make the trip for this game!

What are the rules on players we can use?

From what I can see there are no rules on player usage, I.e first team, academy, development players, it does say though on Wikipedia: "However, in recent years most of the bigger clubs have tended to treat the cup as a "reserve" or "youth team" competition, giving the non-league sides a greater chance of success, while the competition's most successful team, Aston Villa, have not competed at all for several years."

I would put an U21's team out just to keep the fringe players going, maybe something like:

If we get a home match is it played at the Ricoh?

That's an interesting question and I don't have an answer for that.

Didn't we win this once? When are the ties played?

Yes 06/07 we beat Walsall 3-2, I think we are three times winner of this competition. Our first round tie is Tuesday 30th September.

30th September I believe. Quite pleased about this draw, only a stone's throw from family, so hopefully a cheap away day.

Be interesting if Sphinx got through & played CCFC U21 in next round.

Competitive reserve football, we usually pay the fine and not enter. All senior clubs in west mids area are eligible.

Just checked their official website and it says the matches are played at Semi-Pro clubs, whilst the final is at one of the professional grounds.

So, home ties at Sphinx or Nunny?

I would actually fancy a local derby with Nunny in this cup!

Would we get a decent crowd if we played Brum or Wolves in the final at The Ricoh or at the Villa?

You'd like to hope so, but I am not sure many will.

I fancy Halesowen Town though, what about you?

We used to withdraw from this every year and pay the £1000 fine.

Away that week, but there are a few grounds on that list which I am yet to visit, so hopefully we go through.

2-0 up after 45 mins thanks to Birchall and Whing. Then a young lad scored 2 quick fire goals before half time. The second was followed up with him getting the ball straight from kick off. If it hadn't been for a good Steele save it would've been a 100 second hatrick. The kid looked like a talent. Pace, skill, strength, power, great first touch. Could be the whole package.

Whingy was captain in his last game in a City shirt, had a stormer and played a free roaming role in centre mid. It made us all wonder why we hadn't tried it before. Took a Birchall pen in extra time to win it.

On the platform at the station this guy was talking about the lad who scored for them saying "that was my boy, he's going to be a star, he's going to make it into the big time one day". His lad then came and joined us on the train. Seemed reasonably level headed and quiet. I know he's had his problems but well, Troy Deeney's Dad (sadly no longer with us) he's had his problems but weren't you right!

Of course! Troy Deeney.. Fair play to the lad he has gone on to do better and bigger things and hopefully that will result El Oche Watford to the Premier League.

Although back to us for a moment that story above from you CJ highlights the importance we need to take this competition, Steven Pressley talks about breeding a winning culture into our Club but surely to do this we need to be successful, even if it's mainly our U21's and a few peripheral first team names like Miller and Barton, who could help in these competitions would held our young stars for tomorrow.

There is no point entering these competitions if we are not serious about doing well, even if it is the U21's squad we utilise we need to be ensuring that we try and be successful in it.

It's a county cup competition that is played every year. Each county has them. They are technically first team games but are more of a reserve team thing. We rarely play in it.
