Reading some of your stories of getting of the train, and 'pub crawling' down Digbeth towards the ground has just reminded me as to how lucky we are at Birmingham.

Some recommendations below.

Get off New St, go out the back door, the old front door, where black cabs are. Through Debenhams, down the stairs, and out the back towards the Bull Ring Tavern. Now, if you go to the left of the Tavenr, you will have from there, behind the police station is Hennesey's, a decent pub. Decent price, decent beer. They'll look after you in there. A short walk then to the Eagle & Tunn, or back towards Kerryman, Subside Rock bar, (old Dubliner, and open until 6am, and also feckin cheap!) then it's just a 10 mins walk to the ground.

If you go right of the Tavern, you take a 5 min walk up Bradford St, then turn left onto Alcester St. You will see the Spotted Dog. Go out the back/outside, it's like Narnia! From there head to The Old Crown (Custard Factory), and there is even the new place called 'Birdies'. Look like some crazy Hawian bar.

Near the ground it's The George or The Roost. The George has a downstairs if the bars rammed. Entry from car park ground side.

After a game, head to Digbeth Dining Club for a bite to eat & a beer, it's behind Old Crown. If you like Northern Soul, and fancy the all day, then next to Digbeth Dining Club is The Night Owl, a Northern Soul Nightlcub. Best club in the city I think.

Anyway, us Blues want you away in the cup. It'd be a crack sitting in the away end of our own ground sinning "we hate V!lla more than you"

Great post and thanks for the recommendations. My friend has ended up going to every home game this season and is really enjoying it. I went with him this Saturday to the Gillingham game and we had a great time. While the sunshine and a 1-0 win always helps with that, the whole day was good. From getting off the train to getting to the stadium via a couple of decent pubs, we felt comfortable and welcome everywhere. The stadium itself is nice and the pitch is clearly suiting us too. There's a much better vibe to it, it's already closer to the feel of Highfield Road than the Ricoh ever was, so I really appreciate us being able to play there. Looking forward to the next game!

Yes, we have good groundsmen these days. We may have to make the most of the Int breaks to relay the goalmouths at some point I reckon.

We've had major grief with K2. They are a bunch of yammers from Dudley, and mostly dog heads in there past. They've been told to chill out as the fans were tuning on them last season after 5 bouncer looking types dragged a regular fan out for feck all.

Good to hear. We have the regional banter, but we are a similar bunch of fans who don't ask or expect miracles, unlike the snobby b@stards over the expressway. Whether you win the Johnstone Paint, Autowindshield, Carling Cup, FA cup. It's a day to remember forever!

From the outside, amongst all the shite, it appears you are well ran. You are luck to have a large catchment for the academy. We haver to fight WBA, Villa & Wolves for the talent here.

The 'locals' here complained about us parking, so the council were brining in permits, and a 1 mile exclusion zone. This was until the council told the locals the permits would cost them £25 each, and they had to buy them for their guests too. Soon scrapped it!

If any of the you Peaky Blinder fans. When you come towards McDonalds island from Digbeth, if you look left, thats pretty much where it was based on. The Garrison is still 'there' on the outside, but its a masjid on the inside.

did say to my mate that as much as the stewards seem OK it might be a different story when there are 15 - 20,000 Blues fans in there compared to 5 - 6,000 of us.

I did read something in the Birmingham Mail a couple of years back about fans complaining that parking restrictions on football match day were enforced more aggressively than they are for Friday prayer at the mosque down the street, when parking on verges and roundabouts was common.

I don't think we get the international breaks off. Depends on if we're due to play at St Andrews that week I guess.
