There's about 15 players who have started more regularly than him since he signed. So I guess it depends on your definition.

Dasilva has to be one of Mark Robins worst signings and like you say, tried so hard to sign him.

Not even top ten! Kastaneer? Jobello? He’s barely in the top three worst fullbacks Robins signed. The hyperbole about him on here is ludicrous.

I mean I said fullbacks. He changed it to left backs. But OK:

Wilson-Esbrand, Brown, Mason

Can we just agree that MR can't pick a decent LB.

Bidders is OK, and I Like the guy, Mr reliable, but he's not going to be m.o.m very often.

I don’t disagree but how often will a full back be MOTM?

Binks and JDS are both an enigma. I always think there is way more to come from both of them, then it doesn't happen. Both are really good footballers who have made more unnecessary mistakes this season than is acceptable. Both have improved under Lampard. Both have a good pedigree.
I will be surprised if Binks doesn't continue to improve and JDS gets more minutes.
JDS needs to take players on more in the final third. He always seems to be looking for a pass rather than skinning a fullback. He gets more stick than is deserved, as MVE has been taken to the cleaners equally as often this season. Social Media experts always need scapegoats and these two are always in the firing line. They should take note that our best player for the last few seasons (who is still here Sheaf) gets an enormous amount of stick.

I’m surprised we’ve never tried Binks at left back. He’s reasonably comfortable on the ball and obviously brings more height and strength than JDS. Jimmy Dunne of QPR is a similar profile, and has a good season at right back.

We need better than Binks and Dasilva.
Binks did well against QPR, but he wasn't up against much in the way of quality, as we made hard work of beating a very average side, due mainly to playing 3 games in a week.
JDS should never be in our starting 11 if we are serious about a top 6 finish.
I wouldn't be suprised if both are moved along in the summer.

In a consequence free environment, I'd be up for seeing it tested, although I'd actually expect Kitching to do a better job as he seems slightly less slow.

Been saying this myself. Appears to get exposed at CB, definitely in a back four so could be a good fit, especially with a Kitching organising/directing next to him. Surely worth a go, especially on occasions if/when bidwells out and Lampard wants to play a back four.

I'd say starting 7 in 10 is a first team regular. You'd also argue a lot of the other players on that list never had any real competition for either all or large parts of their cov career. McNally, MVE are good examples, so to is JCS the only left footed CB we had that season, and Hamer and Gyokeres were just a class above anyone else in the squad.

Bidwells had to compete against Maatsen and Dasilva.

Compare that to Dasilva who has started just 47% of Championship games he's been available for.

Think time will tell on both of them. Binks still young. JDS who knows? Never fulfilled his early potential.

He is garbage considering his age and pedigree. Dasilva is rubbish at defending and vanilla going forward. If you are comparing him with people we signed in Lge 2 that sums up his quality.

He plays like a 20 year old thrown in at the deep end. He is 27 in a couple of months and has played 239 games at a high level.
Fans bang on about lack of experience, but he has plenty. What he hasn't got is any talent for his position. Any player can have a stinker. But Dasilva is the same week in week out. I called him out last season when fans were quoting his attacking stats... That actually produced very little.

This is the issue with full backs playing through the development system at the top clubs. They don't have to defend that much and are effectively wingers that have to make the odd tackle. Hence why I think Dasilva gets caught with the ball over the top so much - he never had to deal with it because for Chelsea youth the teams he was playing against didn't have the ball long enough to exploit it.

Remember those two brothers that played for Man U as full backs? Once they left and had to play for teams that wasn't just dominating a game they were actually a bit shit.

Lots of below average players have looked very good in above average teams. Dasilva doesn't have the first inkling about defending though. He doesn't even respond to his clangers. He never gets out of jog mode, whatever the situation the team is in.

Didn’t Dasilva’s shite clearance , lead to their equaliser ?
Another lack of any defensive quality, putting the ball straight in field, instead of any calmness to try to pick out a player in black , or put the fucking thing in the stands ?

It was one of them freakish moments where their over hit crossed looked to everyone it was going out and it bounced on the line and came back in play.

Jds had switched off mentally thinking gk, like I had when watching it and because it was still in play he just panicked and aimlessly booted it in field which is fucking shambolic.

You'd expect it from someone like that Sandiford Jr on our bench who's never played at any level before but not from a 27 Yr old player with his appearance stats.

Pathetic
