I'm sure this Is right
Its more spending £500+K of our current budget as against transfers +wages to get out of L1.
Is ours any more likely to provide 3-4-5 squad members of the right calibre over attracting upper division rejects of similar or better quality?

Don't give 'em ideas!

FWIW it's the surprising thing with our owners, and the comfort through SIxfields. If only short term gain then yep, you'd close it down as you could sign up the decent players already there, and save the running costs.

It's the long term though, the building of a club...

And the way to get better player is to show they get a first team chance with us. The thinking footballer (there must be some!) look at the games players get and the opportunity to move elsewhere as a result of that... and then they sign for us rather than the bright lights and unending reserve football elsewhere.

Cov kids, academy grads, etc. Was more of a general point on people blindly praising our youngsters. I best not make that mistake when I'm at the Independent next month

What do Nuneaton players get paid? What do youngsters at Coventry get paid?

I could understand if we were talking about Tevez or somebody.

500 to 750 a week at Cov I'd say. Significantly less at Nunny.

So he's hardly going to be earning massively more than some people on here and probably less than others?

Probably a bad example to use when wanting to use the "earning more than all of you" line.

First professional contracts at our level can't be anything more than 1k a week surely. So no not really, but hey I'm sure if Billy is an avid reader of this forum that he won't be too disheartened.

I've heard of one Nuneaton player at Conference level reject a move to Div 4 as It was more lucrative to take wages at the Boro and keep their day job going.

People keep mentioning Tevez. I think you'll find that deal fell through when TM chose Vincelot over Mascherano.

Shame though. We could have added Tevez and Mascherano to a string of famous City partnerships: Dublin and Huckerby, Wallace and Ferguson, Boxley and Rogers, Capel and Collindridge...

Btw I thought this was a thread about Billy Daniels.

He said "out of the game" not "earn more than you". I've taken no money at all out of the game for example.

I did read it as that, but thought it might be a willy waver in which case "money earnt" in general would be better.

I don't mean earned more in general, I meant he's earned more from football than anyone on here unless there are a few secret ex-pro posters!

You have taken my comment completely out of context Nick. I am saying that everyone saying he's this, that and the other probably doesn't bother him as he's earned more money playing football than probably anyone slagging his ability off has earned through football

So if you've never played professional football you can't say a player is shit then?

I think people who have doubted his ability have sort of been proven right die to him dropping like a stone.

I don't think anybody is slating him as a person just judging his football ability from watching him and being able to compare with other players.

Surely what a forums about isn't it? Does that mean people can't think food from a restaurant is rubbish because they haven't earnt as much being a chef?

What has that got to do with anything? Ridiculously stupid and irrelevant comment.

How is it stupid and irrelevant? I'm just pointing out that he must've had something to be considered worthy of a professional contract in the first place. Even playing for Nuneaton isn't that bad as he's still earning money through playing. Marlon Harewood played in the premiership and is also at Nuneaton. Kevin Thornton fucked his career up monumentally but still picks up a few hundred quid a week at Barwell
