It's what I expect, anything less will be under performaning.

We have lost clingan, Keogh, cranie. Platt Nimely Norwood mcpake. I know we haveost more but these boys are significant.

We have gained Malaga, Killer

IMO edge, Elliot, fleck, ball, Brown all have potential but will we really don't know what we will get.

Cody will get injured we need aotger goalscorer.

We don't have Norwoods replacement. So not one to keep the ball and create from cm.

Before we got killer and Malaga I though we had a chance if relegation. Now if we go down something would be really wrong.

But I can't see us going up without a hell of s lot of luck

Bloody hell, the glass really is half empty for you isn't it. I'm surprised you get out of bed in the morning!

Of the list of players we've lost I think we'll miss only Keogh, Cranie and Norwood ( who was on loan anyway).

while some of the new signings will be off the mark, some will be great for us... it remains to be seen who. I'm expecting good things from Malaga, Kilbane, Elliot and Fleck. with the others being a wildcard.

I would HOPE for a top six finish, but do not know enough about the other squads in the League or our new recruits to say I EXPECT a top six finish, minimum. Kudos to you if you are better informed about the strength in depth of the entire league and have seen enough in our pre-season friendles thus far.

I usually just read this forum and rarely leave a message, and I am neither in nor out of the Thorn camp.
But I just had to say something now. I have been following this forum for a few months now, and watching the anti-Thorn brigade take any excuse to rip him down, watching them turn just about every topic into anti-Thorn tirades. It is pathetic, and I get the feeling they are so rabid now that they don't even realise they are doing it.
They bring the same twisted statistics "proving" he is the worst manager ever when they logically must know that isolated statistics are meaningless whilst at the same time ignoring and attacking any comment from less rabid posters that in any form whatsoever seem to be supporting Thorn.

It would be laughable if it wasn't so pathetic and so very, very boring.
I am not a fan of Thorn, and I also thought he might have done better at some times, but I recognise the truth of what he was left to work with - especially at the end of the season when he was forced to put crocked academy players and untried teenagers on the field to make up numbers. Yes, he failed to motivate sometimes and sometimes his tactics (if any) were more than confusing. But somehow he managed to keep up moral and he kept the players on his side, which was remarkable given the circumstances.

Yes, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but for me personally it has become more than pathetic hearing the same bile spewed forth ad nauseum.

Nick,
I know you are no fan of Thorn's, but can't something be done about these anti-Thorn posters turning just about every single topic into an anti-Thorn tirades? It is ruining this forum for me, and I suspect for many others.

I understand your point, but this like any other forum is a vehicle in which people can express freely, their true opinions and viewpoints in relation to Coventry City Football Club, within reason of course. In this instance, nothing awful has been said, just fans voicing their anxities about their beloved football club, that incidentally is being run into the ground. It is nothing personal, or at least it's not mean't to be, about AT, it's mainly because the club got relegated from the championship last season and like it or not, AT was very much a part of it, regardless. Now that's my opinion, you may disagree, but who care's, it's all a matter of opinion.

Awful comments are very rarely made. There is the occasional bit of childishness which raises its head about Thorn's appearance and intellect, but those who are genuinely offended need a little more perspective. The only gripe many have is that many threads are hi-jacked (it really doesn't matter who does so, Grendel) and go down the 'Thorn out / Thorn in' cul-de-sac; nothing is resolved; people only serve their own agenda; this is a sometimes ridiculous lack of balance; and genuine discussion and debate falls by the wayside. I hope it is just because we are in silly season, because it certainly takes the edge off this forum for me.

I would say the current squad should be top 10, we are still weak in central midfield and up front

Ahh, the old anti-Thorn/pro-Thorn thing again.

Amusing the amount of posters who say they are 'not a fan of Thorn' but then get into tirades about the 'anti Thorn brigade.'

The way I see it is that most people are just posters posting about what they see is right and when they see things are wrong. We have just been relegated, so pretty much everything has been wrong of late (club from top to bottom).

If we start doing well I am sure Thorn will get praise. If we do badly he will quite rightly get criticised. That is the camp I am in. When he gets it right I praise him, when he gets it wrong I give him stick.

Don't see any problem with that at all.

I see very few people who are 'anti Thorn.' They are just yet to be convinced by him.

Otis,
I agree with your comments and am of the same opinion, however, it does seem that certain posters just want to berate AT at any given chance, that’s before the season has already started!!!! Only my opinion mate!!

He'll be gone by Christmas.

I am slightly worried that some people aren't going to be able to cope when he does eventually get the boot.

Everyone will be just fine, don't be silly. We are Coventry City fans, not Andy Thorn fans. No one holds his employment in higher esteem than the Club we support. Can we wind in the ridiculous and deal with what is written in black and white?

There's plenty on here that berate everything he does,I'm no thorn fan,i never wanted him and wish he was gone but typical sisu took the cheap option and it ended in relegation. I fail to understand why certain people don't vent their anger to the idiots that employed him.

Ok, there was one two days ago calling him a 'borderline illiterate'. But you are missing the point, Rich. The point is not that the OP is talking about posts which berate him as a person. They are in the minority. There is a tendency to berate his ability as manager. Which is fine. This is a football forum. Most are grown ups. However, the edge is taken off your forum when so many threads descend into the same back and forth about Thorn. There is a marked lack of balance (from both sides), the argument does not progress and it is a fucking chore to read. Don't read, then? I think you will find fewer and fewer will before long.

I said we should fire him because he's bald, sweaty and has a bear's beer belly.

Think most people realised it was a joke though.

Fair enough, I have better things to do than to scroll through all threads and copy and post the relevant sections. If you have a look yourself, I'm sure you could pick one or two off. I have started you off with the 'borderline illiterate' comment. And I would say 'many threads' rather than 'every thread', but I like to think I am not so sold on one side of this debate that I can't see the wood for the trees.
