Looks good, Shaw back & Antonio (could be a clone of a young Emile), dropped ball losers Wilshire & Barkley.

Barkley was average for a team that finished bottom half last season, Wilshere is still not fit.

Good call IMO...

We don't have much to pick from. There are so few English players in the Premier League (and getting fewer and fewer), pretty soon they will have to start picking Premier League bench-warmers or Championship players. Cannot see any future for the England team if we maintain the current course.

Can't argue with that. Interesting that Rooney is now definitely classed as a midfielder. So early in the season, its hard to identify who's in form.

Surprised Barkley and Wilshere aren't selected. I had a feeling Antonio would get a call up at some point, bit disappointed he has chosen Jagielka, would rather have someone to develop as understudy.

Surprised Walcott has been selected, he's always injured and when he is fit he can't hold down a first team place anyway.

Can't see allardyce using Rooney as a central midfielder in the way hodgson did , probably play as number 10.

Rooney should have done the decent thing and retired.

Average squad, average manager, average nation.

Bit underwhelmed, Hodgson could've picked that. But I suppose like someone said above, it's the hand we've got to play.
Kane, Hart and Sterling shouldn't be in there imo, Defoe, Foster and someone like Zaha I was expecting, maybe I'm out of touch with it. Would normally be heading out this weekend, can't be arsed.

Sterling shouldn't be in it? Have you not seen a game this season? He's been brilliant. You can't just drop Kane off the back of one bad Euros, the guy has been top scorer in the past two seasons.

Defoe in the squad hahaha, are we back in 2010?

He was very good indeed yesterday.

Think he is very much a confidence player akin to Jacob Murphy.

Less playing time for English players surely has to be a good thing, as we have been moaning for years about our players playing too many games and being tired.

With this they should now be fresh as a daisy.

Pretty annoyed Barkley has been left out. I believe he was the top English midfielder for goals & assists combined last season, get's no game time at the Euros and is completely blanked for the squad this time despite having a decent start to the season (goal and assist already), yet Henderson gets in?! I just don't understand. I honestly believe he is one of the best midfield options we have at the moment.

Did someone mention Zaha ahead of Sterling/Kane? Hahahahahahahaha. What has he done for the past 2 years to warrant even a sniff in the England set-up?

3 distinctly average strikers at international level IMHO.
3 below average keepers.
+ far too many inconsistent performers in defence & midfield.

........I doubt I'll be watching.

Sterling should have to earn his place back in my opinion, not just after 3 good performances at the start of the season.

I would have dropped him for this round to see a bit more from him consistently.

The players as a whole were an embarrassment in the Euro's but he stands out quite a bit. There should be a bit of pride installed back into representing your country, and you should be fighting for it.

At the Euro's he was one of the worst 'Englishmen'. Three games wouldn't warrant any other player a call up really. He needs to earn it again.

Despite the half decent form at the start of the season he still has a lot of work to do to make amends for what went before. 3 or four players all deserve a chance over him in the squad imo.

Been far too long to wait for an international break! This one's even better as we don't have to suffer an evening at Wembley too. Anyone else on here making the trip?

Travesty that he's missed out again. Don't get it at all. Give him a few games and he's captain material.

No-one that we have is any good. It's hard to point to any player and say they would walk into any other top international side. We don't even have a good goal-keeper any more, a position where we once led the world. Where is the Banks/Shilton/Clemence or Peters/Platt/Gascoigne or Greaves/Lineker/Shearer? It truly is a sad lot that we have. And remember even those brilliant players we had in the past found it almost impossible to win a major tournament.

When fit I can see Butland replacing Hart.

I am no fan of Vardy but he is a better bet away from home than Rooney.

Please can everybody stop building up Mark Noble an average midfielder who wouldn't get in the side at most of the sides in the top half of the league.
