IF leeds bid for clingan over 3mill, worth letting go?
For that we could get a big name striker in which we need the most.
Could gael and thomas, step up to take over...?
I can't decide cause I still think clingans possibly the best player we have but with big money coming in he will be let go anyway, sisu for you.

1m is top end anybody will bid - and tbf is probably what he is worth

I would actually accept 1.5m upwards if it was reinvested

but thats the problem . AT would get 250k max out of any fee

AT wont get any money from any sales! It would seem hes not even able to spend the wages left beind from King, Westwood and Gunnar, let alone any transfer fees!

SISU will be wanting to recoup as much money as they can especially if they are selling the club.

Nah I just can't even bring myself to trying to work out if it's worth accepting-because no way will a championship midfielder of his profile with 11 months on his contract attract such a bid. 1M tops, 500k likely first bids. Knowing SISU, that's all it's take. A question more worth asking is-is 500k worth accepting, rather than see him leave for nothing?

IMO, no-he's priceless to us, and I'm just praying that AT has told him to hang on as Hoff will give him a hefty payrise when he gets the club. And if we get bought, Sammy can be the man to lead us to the promised land, symbolising the style of play and going down in the clubs folklore as a true Sky Blue Legend to rank alongside the likes of George Curtis. That kind of "franchise player".

There ya go, doom, gloom and wild optimism all in one post

Well you look at money in football at the moment and I think 3mill is a decent price, matty mills 6mill?, henderson 20mill and so on
Even juke was linked with a 3mill bid the other week?

I think a bid of around 1 million will take him away, and i honestly would be gutted but if we could bring in quality replacement from the lower leagues for 300-500k then i think we should. If the club aren't willing to offer him a deal or hes not willing to sign an extension then just cash in while we can.

I wouldn't take the risk, theres nothing to suggest these players will make the step up and replace the quality of Clingan, I would much rather not take the risk and bring in someone young but with a few seasons expierence of first team football in the lower leagues.

Good point tbh, but I still see a big name striker more needed than him, but he is still a valuable asset to the team, wouldn't it be great if we could have both...

Anyone on here who has said sell him wants their head testing
Over the last two seasons when Clingan has been injured it has coincided with a slump in results of which we couldn't buy a win.
If we sell expect a season long slump and relegation.

The thought of a million pound bid for clingan would give Sisu an almighty corporate "Hard on "and see the player spit his dummy the length of a football pitch, whilst declaring, that remaining a Coventry player was making him a mentally and physically sick man, and only a move to leeds would save his life.
The supposed bid of one million pounds, would turn out to be an undisclosed £750,000, none of which would be invested in new players, but to clear the overdue wages of the office cleaners, and settle the final demand from the milk man.

"Cynical"?......I havn't even started.
Lovin it here....Tank Top...

3 million, while he is a decent player would you care to explain what he has done in his time here to to see his value rocket by over 2 million, with 12 months left on his contract?

Just takes a look at matty mills 6mill and the rest footballs getting silly with money, like I said earlier even juke had a rumour of a 3mill price tag which andy thorn said...

AT. wouldn't see a penny of any fee for Sammy... It would be disastrous to sell him.. we'll be lucky to survive with what we have left, let alone weaken the team and squad even further.

It's simple. We have to keep Sammy this season. In fact, we have to try and keep him for a few more seasons. He is vital to us and hopefully we can sit him down and get him to commit to a long-term contract once The Hoff comes in.

I read somewhere that AT had received an assurance from the chaiman that Clingan would not be sold. So that's OK then. Unless it's another miscommunication!

Was it a verbal assurance? We all know how water-tight they are

4.5 initially, bought from a club who have a benefactor who is able to support the club, knowing all the while Leicester have new seemingly wealthy investment.

Now everybody knows we are skint therefore know they can get a player from us for less than 3 million.

Yes and not on letterhead!

Lets face it anything over £1M and he is a gonner and the club will not see a penny of that. We cannot let this happen, he is the lynchpin of the team at the moment. I fear the worst this season but we would be a league 1 side if he leaves.

I find it laughable that people are discussing the possible re-investment if we sold Clingan. Any money will go straight in the SISU coffers and Thorn will be told to lump it. It's no surprise Thorn is favourite to be 1st Championship manager to lose his job.
