I like Chaplin but if we could use the money to bring Bright in and then chuck a load at Eaves then I’d do it.

Again it depends on the system we play.

Could McNulty play where Bright did last year in the number 10?
In my opinion totally different player.
McNulty is more of a poacher . . End phase player where as bright can pick it up at the half way line and take the entire team on single handedly.

Lol thank you - just looked now. I honestly never look at the sticky threads, I only click on 'New Posts' which brings down all the updated from all forums. I've spent ages looking for some of those before! Doh!

Don't sell fro £700k in my opinion - want to see him play with Max. £1m might tempt me if we had someone lined up.

I think that if Chaplin wants to go to Barnsley, (and why wouldn't he for the extra money alone), we'll probably have to let him go. So maybe try to haggle the price up a bit - a £200k profit on £500k outlay is OK, but a £400k profit would be very good business - particularly if Robins intends to play 4-2-3-1 again this season. As others have said, Chaplin would fit far better in a 4-2-2 formation. So I reckon we should hold out for £900k.

I like Chaplin. Seems like a likable bloke and I'd like to see him get more game time. I think he has the attributes to be really good for us, but I do have to admit and agree that I can't see him working too well in our current formation and playing style... Like Mrtrench said, seeing him playing upfront alongside Max could be pretty exciting. Not to compare and expect too much, but that could lead to a potential McNulty-style run of form.

But, if the offer is right and we have a solid plan/someone lined up, it'd probably be best to take the offer. Can see him finding his feet and doing well in the right team though.

Keep him. If he is to go 700k is a piss take, want 1.2 to 1.5.

not sure where I sit on this one.. but genuine question, why is 700k a piss take, for player we brought for 500k less than a year ago & hasnt really done anything to increase . Especially given his previous selling club were more successful & in a higher league than us

Absolutely must take that kind of money, 200k profit for a 6 month investment... No problem

I think he'll come good.
Don't think it's worth cashing in on for 200k profit.
I expect my opinion to be in the minority.

Maybe he thought he would be the perfect littleman next to Biamou/JCH? And maybe he expect Baka to be more in the Biamou mould?

If I could move Baka on I probably would too. I've seen nothing to suggest he can be either a regular goalscorer or a hold-up type number 9 at this level yet. It's a shame as he seems a genuine honest hard worker, but I'd say L2 at best. I like Jordy, I like Max, the jury is out on Ponti yet and possibly needs a L2 loan first and I think CC will come good too, but I don't think it will be with us and in particular with the formation we play.

Looking at the video released very recently showing the boys training, in the sprints he was last. Summed it up, he is not quick enough, for whatever reason.

When they say a bid of 700k, how do we know it's all cash up front? From what I have seen previously is that bids are broken up, cash usually in installments over a couple years, and some form of performance based payment. There is no way they are paying out a flat 700k.

For me it would be a no, as I don't think we would actually get that much more to add to the pot.

Anyone else worried that getting McNulty back wouldn't work out?

Older, looked overweight last time I saw him...not sure it's as clear cut as him coming back and scoring 20+ goals again next season.

And those saying we should sell and get Bright in...all very well but many have said although we've done great business this window, we've not brought in any strikers.

Coupled with that the fact that Farndon (is that his name) said we'd be unlikely to bring in any more forwards, why would be decrease the attacking options we have if we're not adding to them....and when scoring goals was an issue last term.

Seems like a backwards move to me if we get rid of him.
