Didn’t we turn down bids for him a while back and loan offers in Jan?

Think we did in January but MR couldn’t dare let him go with Walker & Godden out for ages and Max carrying a bit of a knee injury.

They may have done, I don't really know. However, clubs can get a bit desperate in the January window. I'd be surprised if someone offered money for him in the summer.

Think baka his contract is up so he will be unemployed. For young man with supposed ability he's done little to show it and that is down to him.

There’s not a game on today so need to try and start an argument somewhere.

I agree... I would say the same about biamou, except he's 30.

Their league records suggest neither are what we need

I expect the club will keep biamou on, he doesn't command a high wage

Biamou has earnt another 12 month contract, he has shown he can do a job when called upon due to injuries or suspensions, and he gives us a physical option when he's on the bench.
Having said that, he's not what we need as a long term option, so I'd still look to bring in another young physically strong striker in, and let the likes of Baka, kastaneer, Jobello and Hilssner go.

Football has moved on from the 80s, 30 years old is comparatively young and assuming players stay in shape 34 seems to be the age most (Ronaldo excluded) start to slow down. I think we should keep McFaz too and he is well over 30.

Up top we need to allocate a decent percentage of the budget as I don't feel any of the forwards we have are going to fire us into the top 6 like Tony and Pukki are for their respective clubs.

No I agree, but at 30 there's very little scope for improvement... So it's a case of what you see is what you get

Can't disagree and aside from Fabio Cannavaro who won the Balon dor for the first time at 33 years old i cant think of many outfield players who hit peak form after 30yo. A few keepers coukd come into that bracket however.

Fabio was always at the level though tbh... But defenders do seem to have more stay than most forwards

Jamie Vardy won premier league Golden Boot aged 32, I think.

In fact his career path is almost the mirror image of Biamou's

;-)

(without the goals, of course)

I did... Jamie went straight from the conference as a goal machine to the championship then prem .. Never played in league 2 or 1, career paths nothing alike

Particularly as he's out of contract. They'd be mad to pay money for a free agent.

The fact hes a late starter and missed alot of football, hasn't had the games means in sporting terms he's only about 25/26 years of age with actual experience.

Wether this is a positive statistically or scientifically I couldn't tell you.

Up front Biamou has worked his to being an automatic choice and my original thread has proven his value to the club and his sheer honesty in what he does. Delighted he secured the 3 points v Derby and fair play Robins for believing in the Frenchman. I love his attitude and I understand his limitations as he does himself but what a guy. Rich announcement is welcome and offers a window for some stability. Can't wait for Covid to fuck off, book tickets and head to Dublin Airport for a weekend in Cov, a load of pints and a football match. Allez Biamou le travailleur.

I CANNOT understate how much I enjoy it when people inexplicably refer to players as things like 'the Frenchman' or 'the diminutive winger' as if they are writing a match preview for Sky Sports

P.s. completely agree with post

I agree with Evo1883.

No-one in their right mind is describing Biamou as a goal machine!! But that's why the leap from part time football to League 2 at the age of 26 is about as big a jump as could be expected for a striker who is not a goal machine, but nevertheless a much smaller jump (but still a mirror image) for the 25 year old Vardy who took off from a similar level of football (Sutton United / non-league Fleetwood in 2011) as Biamou at a similar age and land three tiers higher! As you would expect from a goal machine.

Obviously they are not similar players, but Max Biamou has the distinction of now playing for a great team that won the FA Cup in 1987 while Jamie Vardy is currently playing a higher level but for a lesser club, that, as far as I can remember, has never managed to win that particular trophy.

And in three years time, young Max may well be winning the equivalent of the Premier League's Golden Boot for players who have difficulty in finding the back of the net! And untill the day James Vardy is playing for us, I know which player I prefer.

I like Biamou, his improvement season on season is obvious, even this season there is huge improvement to when he first came into the side, its a shame age isnt on his side but absolutely worth a new contract as back up at least.

You are comparing Vardy playing for Leicester scoring 20+ goals when they won the Premier League a few years ago, and currently challenging Man u, Chelsea and and a couple of others for top 2 position in the Premier League to Biamou and Coventry City with the FA Cup win as a yardstick?

I love this club, love the fact we won the FA Cup, great for all involved the entire city, everyone but I may be alone in this thinking, if offered to wipe the FA Cup win from history to take the Premier League by storm and all that comes with it, i take the league all day long absolutely no question for me.

Vardy to Biamou, Leicester to Coventry City, we are at this moment in time inferior in every way, cup win or not no comparison, hopefully that changes over the next few years.

So really, in three years time he will be 21! Yet he already compares well with Shipley who is one of own and is very highly thought of. Not much chance then that we'll be able to keep either of them long-term, I suppose, with other but lesser (Premier League) clubs having larger wallets.

Only if he doesn't play during that time... which seems very unlikely given that he's the first name on the teamsheet.
