Why? because he's being made to get fit before getting game time? should be the first requirement of any player

Probably because he left his boyhood club reluctantly for first team football with a club that’s chased him for two years and now Max Biamou is ahead of him.

Robins said he would have played Walker if he was fit

I agree that his shooting accuracy was poor. Surely that's pretty much what you'd expect, given his lack of match time? If he plays at least 4 or 5 games and he still can't hit the target, then we'd be entitled to make judgement. Same applies to Walker, when he returns - he'll need time.

Exactly. If we take that into account, I think that overall, he did pretty well.

Yes think Baka, kasta and Pask are in bomb squad with Hilßner , jobello could be given a chance to show what he can do but would expect these to be moved on

Assuming you're in the school of Biamou and Baka not being good enough and bearing in mind we're not top payers and likely to be involved in a relegation scrap, then who do we think we're likely to get that would be happy playing 3rd and 4th fiddle to Godden and Walker and fit within our budget?

That's not a leading question, no ulterior motive, simply genuinely interested to hear constructive alternatives rather than these two simply not being good enough.

Imo Max is currently ahead but presumably baka a few years younger ought to still have some improvement in him, offers a potential resale value and will be better equipped when/if we do get relegated.

I think Bappaga is going to be an interesting watch whether and could be ahead of Baka , he was put straight back into the first team squad after just one game in under 23

I think Biamou is the Heskey to our Owen - Godden.

Maybe Godden likes playing with Max.

G, what's your response to Irish Sky Blues post about Biamou?

There is nowhere near enough data to suggest that. Maybe a tenuous link when he played with McNulty, certainly not Gooden. In any caseC without Biamou, Gooden has got off to a good start goal scoring!

Personally, my opinion is that playing 5-3-2 just suited us better than 3-4-2-1 has in recent games. We advanced the ball better, we were more compact in defence, and our strikers were not isolated.

In my view, Biamou had a decent game. He got a few nice touches and flick ons. I can’t really remember him winning much in the air aerially, and he missed a great opportunity from close range. His position as a starter is far from secure.

Based off the Reading game alone, there is evidence to suggest he can play a role as a useful role player this season.

For those thinking Walker can go straight in, this is a tough league. It's one he already has some experience in, but none the less a step up from where he's regularly scored. Look at Bayliss arguably would walk back into our side, yet we've not seen him since a 20 year old at a lower level and are now at the same level as Preston. Probably a stronger squad squad than ours but certainly not miles ahead and he doesn't get a sniff. Also unsure if Walsh is still injured either but not yet close to the BC side.

I regret never having seen him play in our box formation, it would have suited him so much more than the increased defensive responsbilities he had at the base of midfield in our 4-2-3-1. It was never a natural position for him.

Walsh is still injured. I went looking for news the other day and their manager was saying he’s key to how they want to play this year so clearly will be in once for.

Where does all this bomb squad talk come from? Does such a thing exist, or is it just a lazy term being used for players that are just presently out of favour? Are they training on their own at the Memorial Park like McAllister's original bomb squad? Now they were a bomb squad, as they were effectively bombed out of the club and not allowed to train at Ryton.

A lot can happen in a football season with injuries, suspensions, form dips & formation changes, so although at this point in time the likes of Hilsner and Baka look along way from the first team, it doesn't mean they won't feature at some point in future. Remember that McAllister's 'bomb squad' included McSheffrey, who went onto have a pretty successful career with us.

Agree, but I know many would whicj is why I used it as an example. Tge gulf ti this level is huge. Bayliss imo has enough class to overcome it in time, but it's far from a given either wsy until he gets that regular opportunity.

Agreed, he'd be really exciting with his ball carrying abilities, exactly what we have at times cried out for.

Bring him back in January, Preston can give him to us, and also £1mil, in exchange for Shipley

I'd exchange Allen first, then we can get 3 million for Shipley in the summer on the back of his 10 goals.

Walker and baka both started vs Gillingham away in the Carabao cup.
Ahead of Biamou.

Both missed sitters when one on one clean through.

Game should have been out of sight.

Biamou come on as sub and scores a decent header with what should have been the winner.

If I remember correctly Baka didn't take one pf the 5 penalty either ( stand to be corrected).

Baka and walker have had more minutes than Max.

You are correct-tells you all you need to know really. A striker “supposedly” who doesn’t put himself forward to take a penalty in a shoot out.

Especially when his first goal for us was a penalty. Can’t be having young centre backs taking pens ahead of one of your main striker.

While there are forwards whose main value is to provide a foil to help another striker score lots, if you're playing that position you should still be wanting to score as many as you can so if you're turning down almost a free pass to get a goal then I have to question whether you truly are a forward.

I admit I find many goalscorers annoying as they're selfish, arrogant and narcissistic who massively overstate their worth to the team overall but unfortunately that's part of their psyche.

Realistically he came here as a league 2 squad player. He's played a decent role in getting us 2 promotions in the 3 seasons he's been here and has just scored in the Championship against the league leaders. He has his limitations but I f*cking love the man

P.s In my opinion hes also one of the best selfie takers we've ever had at the club

He took his goal well, and I'm happy for him. I'm sure Baka and Biamou will add some value despite their limitations, but Godden and Walker are strikers we can rely on and build a squad around.

Frankly, this applies to more player than Biamou and Baka, but if we stay up, we're going to have to build a much more rounded and competitive squad - which is a given.

Oh absolutely - He's third choice behind Godden and Walker but I think he gives us something that neither of those two do if we need an impact.

He’s a good hold the ball up/bring others into play type of striker. In that area he’s better than both but definitely 3rd choice.
