A complete no mark with far too much time on his hands belittling the record a professional player to try and score some internet points.

As for your sneering 'some of us are bemused' comment, judging by the majority of comments on sky blues talk you are absolutely in the minority.

Far more importantly - Robins and Viveash - who I assume even someone as narcissistic as yourself would concede know far more about football than you do - selected Max on Friday night and he delivered for us. You might also want to look at the comments of Hamer etc. - again I'm sure he knows more about the value of Max than you do.

Most people have accepted he’s 4th choice - you do talk utter shite

Problem with that Adge is that Paul Cook was waxing lyrical about Max's technique in trying to slot that away; I assume you would concede that ex-professionals have some idea as to what they are talking about?

How many other championship teams would sign him if he became available? It’s laughable - I bet you rated Haynes in his day

He did hit the target the bar is part of the target if he put it over that’s missing the target

Max justified his selection v Reading in spades in my humble opinion. Worked his arsenal off , won every header, was denied by a crossbar in his first Championship outing. Great attitude and an effective partner to Matty God. The contrast in the Reading game to the Boro match in terms of team shape was enormous and credit Robins for making the adjustment. In the Borough match God was expected to run all match for 96 minutes on his todd and it looked ridiculous. Biamou brought physical presence, aerial ability and decent work rate on top of his unpredictability and I was thrilled for him tonight. Viveash rightly hugged him after the match. Great win and vital 3 points after a torrid first few games. Hamer needs to cool it a tad but a great lad. Love Ostigard and Dom Hyam has been our best player so far this season. Don't know what Robins sees in Jamie Allen at all. Turned his arse to the cross that brought them their second goal. Too small and has no tackle. PUSB. Forest next.

Agree with all your points. Max has a passion I've never seen in Baka. Allen has something to prove imho. Doubtful about Sheaf at first, but seems to be growing as time goes on. #PUSB #CCFC #MRSBA

I think its playing 2 up front that made the difference, rather than Max's own performance. (Not that I'm saying he was bad)

A second physical presence up front is what we've been missing.

Agreed with all of that. Was surprised to see Allen coming on, when Kelly was on the bench.

I am not sure Kelly is fully fit at the moment. Plus a couple of other points:

1. Allen offered more high energy than Kelly.

2. Allen is a more attacking option which may pin back the opposition psychologically, rather than Kelly's holding role which might invite them on to us....and they were building a head of steam.

So I wasn't suprised at all.

The style made a difference but it’s obvious he was pinned as 4th choice and the walker signing is looking pretty odd - he scores goals - nearly 40 in two years and now seems surplus to requirements

But rebuilding a squad for the next level takes time. We need to get the best out of him.

We all know we need to replace him with a bit more quality for this level.

Not sure why you have written Walker off, we haven't really seen him?

I am holding back any judgements on Walker...far too early to say.

I hear that Fatso but when we tried AB up front with God a few games back it was a disaster; Max is a really useful strike partner as he proved first of all with McNulty.

I have Gillingham he hit the post with an easier chance than Max’s other night people criticised him for he spent 90 mins struggling to control the ball thar being said same as max he hardly had a pre season,he’s recovering from Covid doubt he’s at full sharpenes yet but robins and staff are seeing the lads in training.

Apart from him tripping over the grass a few times he played well, I much rather have biamou as a target than Baka even though Baka is 2" taller.

No he didn’t. He only changed when Jobello was injured - we were winning games anyway - the point most of his first choice midfield now are not able to play as they don’t fit the formation - the other issue still is we are on target to concede nearly 100 goals in the season
Worse than that, on the same basis, we're on target for 11 red cards this season or nearly 50 missed games due to suspensions!

Can anyone else come up with even more gloom and doom based on the "bias-free" statistics of the first nine games?

He has actually only scored 9 league goals in his entire career and two were in a 6 - 2 defeat and one in a thumping win. I think this is why some of us are so bemused as his career is mediocre whatever you say yet he gets more hype than far better players that have gone before

Is his goals per minute good? He went a 1,000 minutes without a goal but I assume that’s when he’s learning his trade and doesn’t count
His career is unusual as he became a full time professional very late. I think that if you were being fair you would make allowances that it took him 1000 minutes to find the net. I remember seeing him play in what I think was his full debut against Blackburn in the League Cup when he was totally out of his depth. He was dumped on his backside a number of times and he seemed genuinely shocked at the physical nature of the game. I thought he was useless. On that night he was. Testament to him and the club that he has come on so much that he could perform 3 years later against the runaway leaders of the Championship and not look out of place in such company. Further to that, to make enough of a contribution that he is picked out for special mention by Hamer and by Paul Cook. If you were being honest you would acknowledge this.
You seem fixated with League goals. His two in the play off semi at Notts County were vital to the future of this club. If we had not won that game, it is possible that we could be where County are now. Yet those two goals don't seem to figure in any of the stats that you quote. In cup games he has scored against u23 teams but he also scored against teams from our division and divisions above (MK and Blues). Why in your stats don't they count? Overall he hasn't scored a bag full of goals, but he hasn't played a bag full of games. He has really had to persist, stay patient and resilient and make his bits and pieces of time on the pitch count. Again, if you were being fair, you would acknowledge that it is harder to have consistent form and to be a consistent goal scorer when you are in and out of the team. For a cash strapped club like ours, his goals at MK and at Ipswich would have more than paid his salary I think in prize money and match receipts. He also scored vital goals in both our promotion seasons (Newport away, Bolton at home for example)
He always gives 100% and does seem to have a genuine feeling for the club, something rare these days. He is not however, just a work horse. The quality of his strikes cannot be questioned, even by you and his ability to hold the ball up and bring others into play is also very good.
There are undoubtedly better centre forwards out there and we have had many better forwards than Max in my time watching the club. Until we can manage to find someone better than him, I can see no reason to belittle him or sneer at his contribution as from what I am watching, he is doing a good job.

Baka isn't aggressive enough and to be honest he's not a good finisher I think max is the better finisher out of the two of them plus he puts in more of a shift so for me max is third choice behind God and Walker

Great summary and a balanced view. I have supported the Sky Blues for over 50 years. Yes, I have seen better strikers than Max in that time, but I have many who are much worse.

I think Max has to be the target man for either Godden or Walker. He is physically bigger and stronger than both, and Godden and Walker have similar styles of play. I hope he can manage a few games in a row as he gets fitter. I would start with Godden and bring Walker on after 65 mins to finish. those could be winning combinations through the season.

Brazil was crocked to be fair and should never have got through a medical

Bamber wasn’t too bad but I think had some illness - his performance at Highbury was a stand out moment in that game

Graham Withey is quite a funny guy. He will say he’s been in an all time team in 3 different clubs - Cardiff Bristol Rovers and Coventry - only problem is it’s the worst ever first 11

Really thought Baka was going to be an important player this season (and of course there is still time for him to be), he looked really good in pre season.

So I'' be very disappointed if he is in the bomb squad, particularly if it's an attitude/effort thing.

Fair play to Max for biding his time and waiting for his chance. He was very effective on Friday and definitely gave us another dimension.
