Max played a key role in our L2 play off success once he found his feet stepping up from non-league - do you remember Notts County away? His partnership with McNulty in the final part of the season was brilliant.

Last season was very tricky after a serious injury but Max stepped up again when called up later in the season.

This season he's frequently been leading the line on his own (and not looking at all out of place) - and over the past 4 weeks has been playing with an injury - for the wider good of the team.

Maybe for once - just give him a break.

i think he’s had fair break - his league 2 contribution you can look two ways - a striker hitting the ground running would have meant we didn’t need the notts county game.

Robins signed Clarke Harris in a loan deal which we paid Rotherham £125,000 for in league 2 (as much money as we’d paid on an actual signing since our last championship years by the way) and you have to ask why he did that? It’s laughable we gave him away and lost the opportunity of a million payday.

It’s the advent of social media that causes it but since Bigi there hasn’t been a footballer of so little ability indulged as Biamou. Hill was before my time but he’d have lasted 2 minutes under his tenure. In fact in the next 3 decades the outcome would have been the same and no one would have cared.

We now live in a strange world of “the journey” “the story” - he has benefitted from this era - in any other he’d be worth £10 and a box of kippers

Max despite what the usual suspects on here might s Max has given quite a few defences a tough game. He has also chipped in with a few goals. Does that make him the player we need to be our starting forward push at the top end of the table, no chance. Is he a decent option with 10mins to go when we're chasing games, very much so.
Baka will go and money should be invested into a better version of Max as we need that focal point in games. Gus even said it in a post match interview, how big Max made the pitch.

Say it enough times and it becomes true, even when it's not.

Now I can't be bothered.

Take off the blinkers and have a look at some of Max's goals; County away and Peterboro away (as some examples) and then be honest with yourself on his technical ability.

Beyond that and far more importantly for the team as cc1234 points out he makes life difficult for defenders and brings other players into the game.

Appreciated by his team mates (McNulty and Hamer on the record) and most of all appreciated by Robins.

But of course you know more about what value Max brings to the team than the above combined - right?

What you call a cult I would suggest is nothing more than a difference of opinion.

By your logic it could be argued yourself, Grendel and a couple more are fanatical in your vocal, disproportionately critical opposition of Max.

I actually cringe when Max occasionally takes a heavy touch on a bad St Andrews pitch, knowing the likes Grendel will be opening another pot of Vaseline to lube his finders so he get on here to have a pop.

This.

Calling it a cult is just trying to make the other side of the debate silly. If any side of the debate was to be called a "cult" it would be Biamou's OTT detractors. Having to jump on anything positive about the bloke.

But we're better than that arn't we?

If we can sign a better 4th choice striker for similar money, let him go.

If we can't, then keep him on.

Im not quite sure city fans really expect ? Max does his best and we don't have the money to buy a Ivan toney - type of player ....not that thier is many centre forwards out thier pulling up trees anyway . Max ain't great but he isn't that bad either , he puts in a shift and does his best . If you asked most fans on this forum at the start of the season, would they be happy to be where we are in the table - with the amount of 1st team injurys we have ...the verdict would be yes definitely. Lets be real here and back our players rather than criticise. Hopefully we will stay up and the next plan of recruitment will happen

There are so many double standards surrounding him, posters dedicating threads to him and talking about imagined qualities they've given him and then calling out Allen as not being good enough - it's all way over the top and based on sentimentality.
He was a back-up striker in League 1, if we survive this year we really should be looking to move on from him and improving the squad, especially to avoid a siutation like the current one where we are relying on him upfront.

if we intend to bring in a higher calibre striker than any we have and Max is going to be 4th choice then n problem with him getting another contract.
If Godden and Walker are going to be are main strikers then I say let Max and Baka go and take a punt on replacing them but obviously there's no guaranteed that will work out.

I dont think in truth there's that many that disagree with you about improving the squad. We should always be looking to do that. I think most understand our financial position and the options that gives us. Most have alluded to having Max as a 4th choice option - I don't think that statement is based on sentimentality.

Robins thinking about offering him a new contract is a long way from saying he's going to be a regular in the first team squad.

Can't imagine that, in championship terms, he's on a huge amount and while we certainly need to improve the quality of the first choice XI we also need squad players that can step in and play a few games when needed.

We'd all love to have 4 or 5 top class strikers to choose from but with our budget we'll be doing well to have 2 so will need players who aren't going to be unhappy if they aren't starting every game or being rotated in.

Didn't Robins say Biamou had been helping out training the kids? If he's happy to stick around as a relatively cheap backup while transitioning to a coaching role I don't really have a problem with it. If Robins has him marked down as his first choice striker I'd have a problem with that.

As an attitude about knuckling down, improving yourself and not giving up after serious injury and being written off as surplus to requirements, he's not a bad example.

You don't have to be a good player to be a good coach so I'm not sure what your point is.

What levels did Viveash, Farndon and Tisdale play to?

Well, Viveash was at Swindon when they won promotion to the top flight (Colin Calderwood wasn't a bad player to keep the youngster out the team), and played for Reading as they lost the play-off final in this division, so tbf to him he's done alright for himself as a player. Stood out for Walsall at this level too, hence why Reading got him. Imagine him as Walsall's Dabo, in terms of standing out

Keep in mind G has also lined up Matty James as a boo boy then the next game had the opposition say they centred their game plan around stopping him.

How goal scoring record in league one isn't to dissimilar to Bakayoko's. You want to hear the crap he gets on twitter compared to Biamou

The league and cup runner up, player in European semi-finals, and getting representative honours, that Alex Ferguson?

Oh, and a quick Google tells me also holder of the record Scottish transfer fee at the time!

Absolutely. There's so many examples, Arsene Wenger, Klopp, Bielsa.

I just mentioned our coaching staff to make it more relevant to Biamou.

Lol what another stupid arguement.

Pathetic.

How many actual headers do you think all our strikers in the time Biamous been here have actually scored headed goals in the league?

It's probably in single figures in total between...McNulty , Nazon, Jones, Hiwula, JCH, Bakayoko, Bright, Godden, Walker.

God your dumb.

You make a stupid argument time and again.

Our strikers generally hardly score any!!

Some teams depending on style of play like Arsenals strikers score sweet FA. Doesn't mean they are shite.

Godden has 4 already. Not scoring a headed goal as a striker is pretty poor even O’Hare has one. He could be let off if he scored goals with his feet but unfortunately they’re a rarity too.

There’s a weird cult that defend Max no matter what it’s strange. Shipley gets nowhere the amount of defence despite getting twice the grief and being twice the player of Max
