What an embarrassing set of fans they are, 37 years and they're still in tears.

I thought the response would be hostile but the vitriol is amazing, it's a very frantic forum. There are often over a thousand active posters on-line at the same time. My views are mixed on it in truth.

Why would a City fan post this on a Sunderland site knowing what the reaction would be:thinking about:More importantly why would a City fan be interested enough to look on a Sunderland site to see what the reaction would be:thinking about:

Well you looked so either that's because it was a thread started by me or another reason - who knows.

There are some very legitimate reasons actually and if you ignore the nonsense and hyperbole I think it presents some very interesting and challenging issues for discussion.

Saying they'll celebrate a club going bust over something that happened 37 years ago and has had no long standing negative effects on the status of their club is extremely embarrassing, can't believe some of them say they hate us more than Newcastle.

It is ridiculous after all this time, but do I think it would be the same if the roles were reversed. Their grievance is legitimate, though i think really the fault lies with whoever decided to delay kick off, I don't think you can blame teams for taking advantage of situations like this, the governing bodies should just make sure they don't happen.

The fact we have fans saying WAHEY!!! northampton have lost, I hope they get relegated shows we are just as bad. Northampton fans have done nothing to us.

If I'm honest I never really thought the grievance was but now I have re-assessed the view and on that I concur with them. I'm not that sure given their current situation why they obsess with it any more though.

At least they ain't obsessed, lol.

Although they seem to be under the impression we can't fill sixfields. Course we can but choose not to. If they even read the petition they would realise its about football not just us. Hate the Geordie wannabes ;-)

Jesus Christ! What a pathetic bunch of dullard knuckle draggers they are! This has cheered me up no end. Thanks to the guy who started the thread, I've now got 14 pages (and counting) of utter hilarity to keep me amused.

Utter morons!

I can understand them not loving us but wishing a club cease to exist and another human being to die is just plain wrong. They are a disgrace.

We used to regularly KO at home at 3.15 - can't remember when that changed though, thought it was later than '77.

Well someone mentioned posting it on there so I thought, why not. It's a very impressive forum site actually with a whole section dedicated to cricket. I didn't think many would really be so wound up about an irrelevant event now to them. I thought it would be a 50/50 split. I have never seen the animosity when we've played them - the fans always seemed ok so its a bit odd.

I don't understand the issue with the Spurs 1997 late kick off, we knew before the game that we had to win, the result of their game wasn't going to change that. Does anyone else remember the topless lady at the start of that game, I think FHM were trying to get streakers at all the Premiership games that day.

Yes great fun that. What's wrong did you get fed up with winding up everyone on here?

Tell you what would be a good idea, go to the next Sunderland match and have a word with the Sunderland fans face to face and see how you get on then.

G's right though, they only needed to get a draw they'd have stayed up on goal difference whatever our result with Bristol. Not point blaming us.

To be honest I have a bit more sympathy with the source of anger than I did but as a few of them said its years ago and a lot of them wouldn't have been born.

The last 15 minutes was embarrasing and hills gloating afterwards wasn't clever either.

I just Tweeted a few Newcastle fan groups with the link, suggested they might want to sign it, if only to annoy the neighbours. Proving to be a good move so fat.

However you view the events of the Cov v Bristol game in 1977 it was not the fault of Coventry fans. For Sunderland fans to hold fellow football fans to account, in the vitriolic manner displayed on their forum, is an absolute disgrace. Some of the postings are pure evil. Some of them also talk about Karma, but ultimately their own hatred will consume them.

They need to take a long hard look at themselves.

Yikes that was 14 pages of unadultered anger...
I think grudges are fine and part of a natural rivalry, but wishing the rival into nonexistence and singing about it is awful.
Makes more sense to me (from their twisted jagged p.o.v.), that they would support an enquiry simply to expose the embarrassing skeletons of the club's owners, as it would give them more fuel to gloat about.
Wishing a rival into nonexistence though is ridiculous... you could never play them again!
I've always been indifferent about Sunderland, and I watched with glee as they took down Manure in those PKs. Those fans give their club a bad name. But, I won't gloat at the end of the season when they get relegated out of the Premier League. Those fans need to grow up, though. I expected better.

Also, I came across a curious fact about Sunderland AFC's illistrious history. Namely, look into Sunderland AFC's "friendly" attitude towards local rivals Sunderland Albion in the late 19th century. HMMMMMM

I was a bit surprised by it. Last week I with a few others have had to work late into the night. I was showing the others the petition and some guy mentioned Sunderland on the petition forum. One guy at work asked what the problem would be. I knew it but never believed it to that extent but said i would replicate the post and see what happened. They exploded with laughter as the replies came in.

I think you should go back and mention Summerbee and that tackle... Should be good for another 14 pages.
