Shining Girls, Apple TV. About a serial killer and stars Elizabeth Moss, who's always fab.

It's really, really good and I would definitely recommend it.

The quality ratio on Apple TV is ridiculous. Almost everything we’ve watched has either been excellent or at least pretty good.

Out of interest, what platforms has everyone got and you do you all pay for them yourselves, or are they shared?

I pay for NowTV, Netflix and Amazon Prime and my missus has Disney+, so shares that with me (I let her share my NowTV) and I have just got 5 months free on Apple TV.

So, just wondering.

I pay for Sky and it comes with Netflix, Paramount + and Peacock. tbh Sky fucked up my house move and since then I've been paying a ridiculously low price for everything (long story short they decided they couldn't install broadband so reduced my bill but reduced it by way more than the cost of the broadband).

Got Apple TV as part of Apple One or whatever its called which I use mainly for the fitness app & music. Amazon because I've had Prime forever for the free next day delivery and then Disney Plus which is the only one I actually pay for as a stand alone product and probably the only one I'd keep if the others weren't part of bundles.

We've got Netflix which is basically free with the Sky discount deal we keep getting when threatening to leave. Had Disney+ for a while which is great for the films but didn't use it enough to warrant the sub, same with Amazon Prime which we've had on and off every time they offer me a month for 99p

Enjoyed Glass Onion as frivolous nonsense which I guess is the entire point. Didn't enjoy it as much as Knives Out which I think was partly as mentioned before it was very now with the tech dickhead and streaming influencers and whatnot, whereas Knives Out was more of a love letter to the old school mysteries which I've always enjoyed. I watched the latest Bond on ITV after it and it was hard to not hear Daniel Craig shouting I SAY I SAY BOY.

Off topic but is Fitness+ worth it? Was having a look and wondering if I could replace my Headspace subscription with it and also I want to learn Yoga and start running. What have you found useful on it?

only really use it for the cycling tbh. got a knock off Pelaton type thing in lockdown. its very slick and upbeat like you'd expect from apple which I'm sure would annoy some people

not really used the meditation part of it, had a quick look and its more stand alone things than the courses you get on headspace but I guess if you've already been through the courses that's probably all you need

Disney +, Netflix and Sky Cinema with the Paramiunt/Peacock stuff. The wife has Amazon Prime for all the shit she buys, so the Prime video is essentially free.

Haven’t ventured into Apple TV… is it worth it do you think?

FWIW I’m torn between Disney + and Netflix as the best of the services, I think a lot of that is down to the spread of adult/teen stuff available, plus I love the Marvel stuff which is pretty substantive.

Yes, liking AppleTV. I had it before as a trial and watched Servant, which I loved and then didn't continue after the trial.

Now have 5 months free and am trying to watch as much as I can. Other people may be a better position to the level of quality, but there are quite a few shows I want to watch and catch up on.

Just finished Shining Girls and really liked it. Both Elizabeth Moss and Jamie Bell are excellent in it.

I’ve got Apple TV as part of my contract and have only just got into it. Some great stuff on there but I can see myself running out of content pretty quick.

AppleTV seems a weird business model. There's constant, long, free trials & bundling in with other things - a 6 months free trial if you have Sky at the moment, and the volume of content is low. But the content they do put out it very high quality.

Not sure it's sustainable on its own and not really sure what the benefit is in Apple running it at a loss, especially as they seem to put so little focus on the AppleTV box they sell.

Can't see this number of services surviving. HBO Max is binning off content as fast as it can as they don't even want to pay the residuals. They've got shows that have been made they aren't even putting on the service.

Sky is a weird one. Under the same ownership they have Sky itself, Sky Stream, NowTV and Peacock. Wouldn't it make sense to bundle everything under one branding?

Its got to consolidate hasn’t it? It’s getting ridiculous. I’m considering dropping Netflix, Prime I’ll always keep cos I’ve got Prime for delivery. Disney+ for Marvel stuff and a decent all round catalogue. Now I’m seeing stuff on Paramount+ I’m kind of interested in.

It’s very tempting just to go back to torrents TBH.

I didn't realise Peacock came with Sky, turns out I have that too. Can you access it separately or is just built in to the Sky service?

Started rewatching Mr.inbetweener.
I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea as it's quite slow and understated but I think it's an absolute under rated gem. One of the best shows of the last few years.

Started watching 'The Rig'
Honestly, don't bother.
2 (and a half) episodes in.
Damn, in this day and age you'd think at least the special effects would be good... nope.
I'm finding it hard to even watch. Terrible. 3/10

I really liked the start of it. Thought it was going to be great, but was mainly put off by the ridiculous concept, inane dialogue and stupid decision making of the characters.

Some great actors in it too unfortunately. What a waste.

Have you seen it yet?
Watched two episodes last night, meh. Will probably continue though.

None of the characters seem anywhere near as interesting or likeable as those in the first 3 or 4 series or Vikings.
Feels like they're constantly re-using the same set pieces from the previous show too and then the story is built around that

Yes watched it all through now.
OK, but not too much action in this series and left hanging for S3.

I agree, I’m trying to finish it but struggling since episode 3. Reminds me of Line of Dury, wooden acting and a non believable storyline

As others have mentioned, very Midsommar-like, especially the end scene
