Parasite (Paid rental) - Was alright, I expected more from the hype and the end seemed so random. Quite liked the premise and it was nicely done, but felt the pacing was off and the ending was just totally out of left field. A bit like when I wrote stories as a kid then got bored and tried to finish it in a paragraph.

I thought it was brilliant, really funny and gripping until the end that was unnecessary and as you say totally out if keeping with the rest of the film.

Get those stories made into films!
I Really liked Parasite. I’ve enjoyed a few Korean films over the years…Memories of a Murder comes to mind. Although I also remember being baffled by it.

Yeah, really enjoyed that. Also thought I Saw the Devil and Oldboy were very good. Of the ones I’ve seen they’re all kind of odd/find humour in things that seem unusual to me.
Different cultures huh? Whatchya gonna do!

Turns out I probably haven’t seen as many as I thought…

Detectorists did not disappoint last night. Always a bit worrying when a favourite comes back after a few years off screen, especially for a one off feature length ep but it was brilliantly done as always

If you haven't seen it do yourself a favour and start from the beginning, its all on iplayer at the moment

Saw the first one the other day. Not sure how I’ve never heard of it before. Will be watching the rest

Wednesday (Netflix) - Brilliant. A little teen drama/90s supernatural show at times, but generally really well done and Jenna Ortega is excellent as the lead.

Severance (Apple TV+) - Just started it. Intriguing concept and so far pretty good, but like so many of these types of shows will depend where they go with it.

We watched Wednesday and enjoyed it. So many links to Harry Potter plots (there’s a video on YouTube about this) but at least I’d finished it before seeing that

I finally got round to watching The Hogfather this year. That sort of thing isn't normally my cuppa, but I quite enjoyed bits of it (enough to sit through the whole thing), especially Death, and Albert!

Just watched both episodes of Mayflies. By fck, that's some harrowing stuff, but well worth watching.
My missus is in bits now, and I've got something in my eye.

Emily in Paris season 3 is fantastic. Don’t get the hype around knives out but it was okay. Starting white lotus season 2 which again I didn’t understand the hype after season 1

Old one but just watched Gone Girl, been avoiding it cos Ben Affleck but enjoyed it a lot despite him. Frustrating ending but reading the authors thoughts she’s right that it’s the only one that made sense.

Not seen the film because I thought the book was rubbish. Was surprised because a number of people had recommended it to me. However since I have met a few people who agree with me.

We watched that a few weeks back, stayed up late do so. We laughed at the ending which I felt made the whole thing pointless.

The authors rationale is
if she dies he’s in the same situation he started with and she’s too smart to leave enough evidence to get her. I kinda like an unsatisfying ending TBH, makes it a little less like a story and more real when everything doesn’t work out frontje best and neither were particularly likeable so there’s something in both being unhappy.

Do feel sad for the guy on the sex offenders list tho. He needed her exposed.

Couple of popcorn movies today cos I’m ill.

Extraction (Netflix) - Fun action movie with Chris Hemsworth. Enjoyable fight sequences and set in India which is nice.

The Gentleman (Netflix) - Guy Richie movie, the same Guy Richie movie you’ve seen before with Lock Stock, Snatch, Layer Cake, etc. If you like them you’ll like this cos it’s the same movie. I did like them so I liked this.

And just finished Severance and can’t wait for S2, really tense finale with a massive cliffhanger.

Without Sin - Another ITV crime drama with Vicky McClure. Thought it was really average, looking forward to her being back in Line of Duty tbh

The Stranger - Australian film on Netflix (not the Harlan Coben series) loosely based on a true story. Really good and atmospheric, recommend.
The real life murder case it's based on is horrendous. The investigative police work involved was fascinating

Ted Lasso (Apple TV) - Been avoiding this cos I was sure I’d get pissed off with the bad football takes, but just binged both seasons. Ridiculously feel good and barely any actual football in it TBF. Though they do call City “physical bordering on violent” which I thought was hilarious. Actually think the missus would like it more than me but can’t get her to watch it cos it’s a football show.

Daily motion. May need to download app. for some reason I couldn’t watch the final but I went on a web search and found it. Tip, the episodes do not link in sequence so the best thing is to click on individual episodes.

Think it's been mentioned earlier in the thread but watching Happy Valley for the first time, decent. It's a part of the world I quite like.

Watched this latish a couple of nights ago on BBC2 I think.
It was very good light entertainment whilst covering factually a harmless bit of fraud .
Think he might have been treated different/harshly in today's vitriolic social media spewing all it's diatribe.
