Mr Harrigan's Phone on Netflix. Started well, but the ending feels very incomplete imo

It's a Stephen King short story adaptation, and it feels like a short story drawn out over 100 mins

We’re watching a Stephen King one on Sky Atlantic. The Outsider. Preddy good, Paddy Consadine’s American accent is impressive.

Going next Thursday.

Normally sneak a couple of cans in for a film, but may take a four pack.

2h 41m.

Fucking hell, Stanley Kubrick went from the dawn of mankind to the creation of a new species in less time.

Still doesn’t beat The Batman which I had no idea was that long and caught an 11pm showing on a whim

Anyone watching Andor?

Over the years some of the Star Wars stuff has been gash, but really enjoying this. The Mandolorian, Solo, and Rogue One have been entertaining as well.

Really enjoying The Peripheral. Especially now I am 5 episodes in and it's making much more sense.

At first I thought it might be just a bit too clever for its own good, but it seems to have found its feet now.

Think the episodic stuff works really well for Star Wars. Sure we'll eventually get more films but I'm enjoying having an hour of new Star Wars most weeks of the year.

Interestingly Disney Plus is now the home of Doctor Who outside the UK. With RTD back in charge, who has previous for spin off shows with Sarah Jane Adventures and Torchwood, wouldn't be at all surprised if we see more spin offs. Lots of rumours of a Paul McGann series but suspect that's just wishful thinking as a lot of Who fans have been wanting that for a long time.

Fifa Uncovered on Netflix. Not sure if it’s new or been out for a while but episode 1 was good.

I would advise getting back on it if you can. I normally binge watch so the fact I've actually managed to catch something when it comes out is really frustrating. Waiting a week each time can make it feel a bit slow. The last episode was class though, would really recommend to watch.

Only watched a few episodes before but now properly catching up.

Really enjoying it, feels a bit like a World War II spy series set in Star Wars.
Great cast too, so many familiar faces from random British TV series

I haven't seen it, but I am getting wearied by them all and this is coming from someone who grew up on superhero comics and had Spider-Man as his hero.

Just wonder how many times you can save the world though.

Thing that I am also not so keen on is the the assembly movies. You have superheroes that individually, in their own worlds, can save the world single handedly, yet when there are about 15 of them together, they really struggle.

I always felt that the original stories worked because there WAS just the one superhero in each of their worlds and their individual worlds depended on that one superhero.

I am growing a little tired of them and wonder just how many times you can say "wow!" Seen it all now and am no longer amazed at anything they do.

I did like the last Spider-Man movie though and at least WandaVision did something a little different.

They need to drastically change in order to survive, otherwise they will go the way of the western.

Watched "Resistance" this week on film 4. Usually their films are crap but this was excellent. True story about the escape of Jewish children from Vichy France, under Marcel Marceau, who as we know then went on to become a famous mime artist. I never realised how much he did in the war.
I did know about Klaus Barbie, the butcher of Lyon. What a bastard.
Worth a watch.

Watched a few recently.

Lightyear: quite enjoyed. Not the best Pixar but decent family fun.

Paper Man: Great cast, weird and slightly creepy movie. Could have been nice if it was surrogate dad/daughter but tips over into creepy old man that gives me the ick. Still always worth watching Emma Stone.

Grey Man: Excellent silly action movie with a ridiculous amount of drone shots and a very disappointing ending.

Enola Holmes 2: Love me some Sherlock Holmes and even though we saw every twist coming was enjoyable enough. Nice positive female lead for my daughters as well.

We all liked Enola Holmes 2 as well. Just light, frothy fun and she is a fantastic actress isn't she.

Hoping they make another.

Watched Poker Face, Sky original movie with Russell Crowe. Not sure what to make of it tbh. A lot going on. Like three films rolled into one.

Not watching it for about 25 years but Neighbours is coming back on Amazon's free streaming service.

Its an ad supported service, what is interesting is that when it was axed it was because it didn't generate anywhere near enough in ad revenue to cover the costs despite viewing figures being OK. Hard to see how that will be any different on Amazon, seems a weird shows for them to run at a loss, especially when its not on their paid streaming service.

More importantly the brilliant Staged is returning for series 3. Moving to Britbox so I'll be going for the free trial and burning through them in one sitting.

Best part about Neighbours is that proper Hollywood star Guy Pearce came back and his character decided to stay as it was the finale, this now means he's accidentally locked himself into Ramsay Street forever

I'm somewhere in the middle of you pair.

Nowhere near as good as 'No way home' (that is phase 4 isn't it?)

I thought it took a while to get going, but the last hour was worth it.

The film could have comfortably come in at under two hours though. Why all the bloat?

The mid credit scene? Meh.
