Yes 100% clearly going to play a factor. A lot of build up with that for that final scene of the Alpha to be it.

Lovely cameo at the end too.

The Tank ( 2025 ) Amazon Prime.

German language with subs.

Anti war film, in a similar vein to the magnificent Das Boot.

Set at the end of WW2, the Germans are in full retreat in Russia, a tank crew is sent on a top secret mission, to find a missing German general, deep behind Soviet lines.

You`ll recognise lots of the actors from playing German characters in English language films.

It`s not a patch on Das Boot, but what is ?

Still a very worthy watch, well acted, great battle scenes and sets and with a real twist at the end, which I was starting to suspect, but wasn`t really sure whether it was me imagining things !

I`d have happily gone to the cinema to see it.

Just watch ep 1 of Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
Slow as hell, hope it gets going in later episodes.
Didn't know they had vindaloo on the menu.

I really enjoyed it. Thought it was great and rather witty too. Had no problem with the pacing.

It has fabulous reviews.

Luckily they have a thing called special effects and in the script it wouldn't have called for him to have to do it himself.

Probably be gravy, clay and cornflour.

Hope this helps.

Not sure it added anything to the script, other than creating a talking point.

Well this is the writer's explanation.

I get that. But surely there were other ways of creating this narrative.

Following on from the excellent series Vikings on Netflix, I finally got around to watching the spin off - Vikings Vahalla.

I`d been putting off watching it, as I thought it`d be dreadful compared to Vikings, which I loved.

It was very surpised, as it is really very good and the only thinking lacking was a central character, with the talents of Travis Fimmel as Ragnar Lothbrook, other than that, it`s every bit as good as Vikings.

Zone of Interest. ( German with subs )

It was on Channel 4 last night, so it`ll be repeated.

The film is filmed from the view of Rudolph Hoss, the camp Commandant of Auschwitz and his family.

They live in a beautiful house in it`s own grounds, right next to the camp walls, where the "day to day " sounds of the camp are clearly audible, as is the smoke from the chimneys.

The film follows the day to day routine of the Hoss family, as genocide is committed every day next door.

It`s a film with a lot of interpretation and symbolism, so may not be for everyone and beyond the screams, the gun shots, the dogs barking the rumble of the furnaces and the smoke billowing out of the chimneys, you never see inside the camp.

A very powerful film and you can see why it won so many awards.

So, 28 Years Later is amazing. Impeccably shot, beautiful score, fantastic editing, and Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes are simply magnificent. I can see why it was a little polarising when it came out but I thought it was wonderful start to finish.

Rental Family is an excellent watch. The perfect type of film for Brendan Fraser, great to see him having a career renaissance.

It's about a struggling American actor working in Japan. He gets a 'part', and ends up working for a company, that supply actors for real life situations. From people wanting a buddy, funeral attendee, family member, pretty much anything you can think of.

The Coffee Table ( Spanish with subs )

A friend recommended this to me and told me nothing about it, other than it was an ultra dark comedy horror and not to read anything about it, which I didn`t.

The film is about a bickering middle aged Spanish couple, who have a new born baby c/o of IVF, who live completely normal hum drum, day to day lives in an un named part of Spain.

All I can say about this film, is that after the opening act, it leaves you very much with a decision, as to whether you really want to carry on watching it ( I did ).

I`m not going to give anything away, but I`ve seen some bad stuff over the years and this up there with them.

The " dark comedy " elements come after the opening act, as just when you think things can`t get any worse for the couple, things just carry on escalating.

The final act, then plunges you back into the realms of darkness, same as the first.

It`s very well acted and put together and I`m sure it`ll win some indie film making awards, but it`s certainly not a film that I`ll be watching again.

It would possibly be the best film, that I wouldn`t recommend to anyone !

I watched 30 mins this morning and the rest after the Pompey game. Thought about not going back to it for sure.
Christ.

Kinda harrowing right? Really tense/awful more or less throughout. I mean, I guess there was some comedic moments in there but even those were a bit sinister.

Art should challenge us. So on that alone I’ll thank you for a good recommendation…I guess.

Now, I’ve gotta a mate of mine who has a Spanish partner. I think they’ll love it…

You`re spot on that art should challenge us and I also thought it was a very brave piece of film making too, as everyone involved in making it would`ve known how polarising it would be, both to audiences and critics a like.

I really don`t like " horror " films that base the whole premise of the film on shocking the audience with violence and gore, as unless it`s done tongue in cheek, it`s just lazy film making ( imo )

This was a film that was very far removed from that.

It would also make a very good book too.

As you say, I won’t be watching it again…why would you!?…but it most certainly gripped me.
Agree with you regarding horrors of that ilk and this being the polar opposite. This one will stay with me…which I guess is the point!

Right, opening shot of pooing last week and this week it's an opening, graphic shot of peeing from an extra large penis

Next week it will probably be projectile vomitting and the week after, pus coming from out of an open sore.

No pun intended, but it's peeing me off now. Completely superfluous and comes across like they just want people to talk about it at school and work. "Did you see what I saw?"
