Love old historical tv series.
Re-watching Rome at the moment.
Will give a re-run to Medicis and Borgias afterwards.

Really enjoyed Rome. The actor for Mark Antony is brilliant.

One of the finest bits of TV of the last few decades. Stick with it though. You will be rewarded.

I saw the documentary ‘Riefenstahl’. About Leni Riefenstahl, director of many Nazi propaganda films and who filmed the ‘Jesse Owens’ Olympics.

An interesting watch. Seems to have had close relationships with Nazi leaders.
Denied knowing what was going on at the time…

I watched the Chevy Chase documentary last night , I think he was in character a lot in it . But came across decent enough towards the end .

Network & cable TV took an absolute hammering at the Critics Choice Awards last night, only won 4 of 21 awards. And a couple of those weren't exactly facing strong competition, best talk show which is pretty much only network tv, and SNL winning comedy special which was pretty much a foregone conclusion with it being the 50th anniversary.

Adolescence (Netflix) was the big winner and a strong night for AppleTV with Plurius, Severance and The Studio picking up awards.

The Pitt (HBO Max) was another big winner, we should get that as a launch title for HBO Max here in March.

The Studio was potentially my favourite tv series of 2025, utterly immense from start to finish. The Pitt is also great.

It's really good but what the fuck. Near the end of Series 2. It's like the writers had some acid.

Been watching Mr Mercedes on Netflix the last couple of weeks and now on the third series.
It's a Stephen King adaptation crime thriller and apparently it's quite close to the books, but not really sure what I think of it.
The first series was good, but it lost me a bit in the second. Brendan Gleeson is probably what's keeping me with it

What really annoyed me, was that Carol was supposed to be this feisty, strong and independent woman, who was totally resistant to the " others ", then all of sudden she gets a bit randy, abandons all of her principles and morals and jumps straight into bed with Zosia ! ( I appreciate she was achingly lonely, but she`d just lost her soul mate and was supposed to be grieving )

I`m a massive fan of stuff like this and the premise was fantastic, but there was just little bits of it that just let it down for me, her and Zosia being one of them.
That annoyed me as well but the whole situation was engineered by 'them' to get her to that point of desperation and overall it was very well done.

The final episode of Pluribus sent me into a genuine existential crisis. I found the opening scene utterly horrific and deeply upsetting; an entire culture, an entire heritage, an entire language even, gone in the blink of an eye. The virus is one of the greatest villains in television history. I'm fully Team Manousos at this point

Yeah, the whole supernatural mind controlling plot in series two was really odd and only explained due to "Chinese experimental drug".
Series three seems a bit more grounded again so far

Waiting for the Out - got rave reviews but didn't really do it for me.

First episode was enough to make you think it was going somewhere and by the middle of the series it looked like it was headed somewhere but it just seemed to loose steam.

One episode in to the Revenge Club which is far from believable but a strong cast make it very watchable without needing to engage yoru brain too much.

Agree with others, series 2 went really strange, however stuck it out to the end and series 3 got better, well worth keeping going to the end AOM

I`m just about to finish series 3.

If it wasn`t for Brendan Glesson, I`d have probably ditched it after series one.

Some of the actors are proper daytime tv actors

If anyone is a fan of the excellent Mystery Road films, set in the Outback, with the Aboriginal detective Jay Swan wading through corruption, racism and crime, the tv series :

Mystery Road Origins, started on BBC 2 last night ( 12 episodes )

It`s a prequel, so you don`t have to have seen the films first.

I was a bit worried about the lad who plays the lead, Mark Coles Smith, as I didn`t think he`d be able to carry off the Jay Swan character, like the outstanding Aaron Peterson does, but he was very good.

One to watch, if you like well scripted, moody and very dark detective stuff.

( The Mystery Road film is a must watch )

Watched - Siso 2 : Road to Revenge.

I thought the first one was brilliant, total chaos and carnage, with a body count that would put John Wick to shame.

Incredibly low budget, but very well put together too.

They`ve obviously spent a lot more money on the second one, but as a result it seems to lose a lot of the rawness of the first, that made a lot of the fight scenes feel choreographed and a bit flat.

It was still very entertaining, but not as good as the first.

I find it hard to believe that Sisu would be a low budget operation.

Saw it too the other week…shortly after watching the first one. Both ridiculous but good fun!

Sounds like I need to watch the other John Wicks. I watched the first one but haven’t got round to the others.

I remember as a teenager the film Hard Boiled with Chow Yun-Fat being the ‘go to’ body counter film.

John Wick 2 is the best one (imo )

Takes all the madness of the first one and expands on it, plus he gets a new dog

Another one with a mega body count, that`s a surprisingly good film, if you haven`t seen it, is The Raid.

It`s Indonesian, but don`t let that put you off, as it`s fantastic film, that will leave you on the ceiling by the time you`ve finished it.

Dredd (2012) with Karl Urban as Dredd, is also another that is very good.

Yes! Forgot about The Raid…I remember loving it. I don’t think I’ve seen the sequel to ot yet…and feel like I could rewatch both the original and the first John Wick again…following it up with the 2nd by the sounds of it.

Not quite the same but of the same ilk I guess is the ridiculous Kung-Fu Hustle. I imagine you’ve seen it and I don’t know how it’s aged but I remember loving it at the time.

Nobody is another great movie in the John Wick mould, been a fan of Bob Odenkirk for many many years and it's been wonderful to watch him slowly become an A List dramatic actor.

Been bingeing it this week, 5 excellent series, all far fetched stuff but funny and entertaining.

Each series was based on a Slow Horses book, there are 8 more books in the series.

PS Series 6 expected to be released in the autumn, it's in post production at the moment.

I'm a huge "blues" music lover, particularly early stuff - Howlin' Wolf etc., so I was absolutely thrilled when I watched "Sinners" on Sky Cinema. Okay, so it involves vampires, but the music? Wow! It blows you away! Early blues mixed in with a bit of Irish folk. Amazing! I watched it a few nights ago and today, watched it again! Oh, and I've downloaded the soundtrack. Give it a watch if you like that sort of music.

Been enjoying the latest series of The Traitors.

Looks like they've improved the daytime challenges so far as that was always the boring bit imo and they now include a bit more scheming and drama.

Not sure what the point of the "secret" traitor was though if they just unveiled who it was so early. Would have been a lot more interesting if they weren't ever revealed to the public until they get voted out or the final
