Went to watch this in Birmingham this week.

Pretty good - got what I expected. A couple of jump scares, some decent laughs among the tension, a couple of squeamish gory bits and a few Easter eggs from the TV series. And like all good theatre they finish on a song.

Netflix have announced they are buying Warner Bros for $83bn. That includes HBO and HBO Max. Wonder if that means next years launch of HBO Max will be sacked off and they'll merge the programming in with Netflix.

They've could do 'channels' similar to Disney+ with Netflix, HBO, DC and WWE channels.

I'd imagine this will result in the Amazon Prime model; Netflix will have a separate "channel" for HBO/WB that will be an additional cost on top of the Netflix subscription, although they'll probably use this acquisition as an excuse to raise that as well

ITVX are already advertising some programs that require you to subscribe to Disney to see.

Went to see the new Knives Out film yesterday. Best of the lot id say. Really enjoyed it…although we saw it at the Everyman so my wallet says I should’ve waited until it’s on Netflix.

Was it a good movie? I've arranged to watch it with the other half on Friday. The Everyman cinema is a bit overrated imo, the chairs can get uncomfy for a longer 2+ hour movie. Give me a showcase cinema with the reclining chairs all day!

Watched Wicked: For Good on Friday and I do not have the heart to tell the Mrs that it's not a good series. Personally preferred the theatre version but its definitely not on my 'watch again' list.

Totally agree re the comfort factor. I was fidgeting around a fair bit as my arse fell asleep. Also, we were off to the side, right at the front, so not the best angle to be watching.

Regardless of this, it was a good un we thought. We watch a lot of Whodunnits and very much enjoyed this one.

I really like them.

It`s proper " shiny " cinema at it`s best.

Won`t win any awards, but very entertaining.

Went to see Kill Bill- The Whole Bloody Affair at the nice Odeon in Nuneaton last night.

It really works as a single film with the intermission. Especially with those recliners, plenty of room to stretch out.

It's on again on Wednesday at the same cinema for those interested.

Netflix might be gazumped still, Paramount have come in with a bigger bid for more of the assets. No idea what any of it actually means but I got the email from Netflix announcing the purchase so it'd be quite funny if that was premature.

While I can definately see some issues with Netflix and WB merging from a competition point of view, given Netflix and HBO Max are two of the largest streaming services I think its ultimately a far better option than a Trump / Saudi led Paramount takeover.

A lot of people who are clamouring for Paramount as 'they're a proper studio' need to do some research into David Ellison.

Some of the other stuff doing the rounds on socials is just nonsense. Pictures of packed full size IMAX screens claiming 'Netflix can never match this', well maybe they can't but there's 3 such screen in this country at nearly £30 a ticket so its not exactly the average cinema going experience. For most people going to the cinema means price gouging and having to put up with people acting like twats spoiling the film.

Read yesterday that if the deal does fall apart, Netflix will still pay Warner Bros $5.8 billion in fees...
Silly amount of money being thrown around.

The consumer will lose out regardless of who buys I'd imagine. Can see those Netflix subscriptions shooting up soon as well

Yeah. Just a shame about the ending, which let it down somewhat.

Up until then it was a very good watch.

The acting and writing is insanely good.

Why anyone would want to work in that environment is beyond me, no how well paid you are !

Unfortunately it’s mostly downhill from S2, but those first two seasons are magic.

Episodes 3 and 4 tonight, one to go next week and unless they fuck it up this could easily be show of the year for me.

Probably between this and Plurius.

I find the release schedule a bit odd. Surely you either put it all up on iplayer in one go or do one a week, or one every night for a week.

2 episodes one Sunday, 2 episodes the next Sunday and then the final episode the Sunday after is just the worst of all options.

Been binging Stranger Things, to get up to speed with the new series, but still found time to watch this astonishing four part documentary :

Black Swan - ( BBC4 / Iplayer )

A corrupt Danish business lawyer, who specialises in tax evasion, money laundering and setting up bogus off shore companies for heavyweight criminals and corrupt businesses, approaches the Danish equivalent of Panorama / Dispatches and tells them that she`s had enough and wants to reset her life again, walking away from her life of crime for the good of her daughter.

She asks them to conceal cameras and microphones in her law offices, so they can record her meetings with her criminal clientele and bent businessmen and use it as evidence to take them down

She does this with full knowledge that her life will be forever in danger and that she`ll probably go to jail too.

Apparently it`s the most viewed doc in the history of Danish tv, caused an National scandal and led to several new laws being introduced and existing laws being changed.

It`s an absolute must watch.
