Just upto the golf episode, been quite thought provoking. Do love Gregor Fisher when he has a rant, half expecting him to go full Rab C nesbitt at some point

Just started 'Landman' with Billy Bob Thornton.
'A modern-day tale of fortune seeking in the world of West Texas oil rigs'

3 Episodes in..superb so far.

Really enjoy the script writing of Taylor Sheridan.
He must be making a shit ton of money these days.

I started to watch it, but felt there were far too many abbreviations and acronyms being banded about.

The EBD told the FCM that the BRAG can't move on their offer to the JBW.

I was lost after about 20 mins

Watching Brian and Charles currently on Film 4, bizarre film but quite funny.
About a guy in the Welsh Mountains who invents an AI robot out of a washing machine

A bit late to the party, but finally finished Gomorrah on Sky Atlantic.
Thought it was brilliant. Not as good as Sopranos and doesn't have the same humour, but a lot bleaker and more realistic.

Might start Kin next, heard it's meant to be good?

I’d skip Kin for another lesser known in the UK Irish gangland drama - Love / Hate.

The first series is pretty low budget, but stick with it, as it goes full on from series two onwards.

It‘s not as glossy as Kin, but much more full on and the transformation of one of the lead characters- Nidge, from low level gang member, to the brutal gang leader - King Nidge, is outstanding.

Nice one, will give it a go. Sounds a lot like Gomorrah!

King Nidge sounds like someone who would call into our local after match phone ins!

Another one I can highly recommend is - Subbura Blood on Rome.

Crime drama, interlinking corruption in the Vatican and organised crime in Rome.

Quite a brave piece of tv, as there‘s no way the Vatican can have been happy about the way it’s been portrayed in this.

Quite similar to Gomorra, but one of the main characters is a gay Roma gypsy, who has to hide is homosexuality from his own community and all of the other gang members, one of whom he’s in love with.

His character is there to take a massive swipe at the Italian male culture, which again is brave writing.

It’s a whisker away from being as good as Gomorra.

He‘s a great character, but not as much of a monster as Nidge. His transformation from doting family man, to full on psycho is brilliant writing.

I‘ve read that they’re doing a spin off, based on the traveller family.

Lioness - Pretty decent

Bad Sisters - Love it

Just finished watching Tulsa King and Disclaimer and loved both of those.

Just got round to watching - Animal Kingdom.

First series came out in 2016 and the last one ( series 6 ) came out in 2022, weighing in with a whopping 75 episodes !

It`s an American TV adaptation of the excellent Australian film of the same name, which follows the lives of a family of Aussie drug dealers - the film really is outstanding ( Joel Edgerton and Guy Pearce are the leads )

The TV series moves the location to a surfing community in California, where the family have their fingers in every single criminal activity.

The cast is fantastic ( Ellen Barkin plays the mum ) as is the writing.

Maybe a series too long, but well worth watching if you`re looking for something to binge on.

Low budget, but very effective and atmospheric.

I always gauge a horror film by how well slept after watching it.

I didn`t sleep well after watching that

Good. I wasn’t the only one then. Really spooky.

I followed this up with Exhuma last night. A korean horror…”right up my street” I thought.
Tbh it was alright. Maybe I was a bit too tired but I didn’t really get aspects of the plot…and it wasn’t scary!

Seen that one too.

Thought it was a load of garbage and as you say not in the slightest bit scary.

I’m a massive horror fan and for me the best one that‘s been done for years is Sinister.

it genuinely scared the living daylights out of me.

It‘s so well done, relying on the atmosphere, the creepiness and the soundtrack that gets under your skin.

Brilliant premise too, with a really fresh take on the Bogeyman.

Yeah, if I can’t find anything else I’ll stick on a horror. Even with the shit ones (of which there’s plenty) there’s usually something original in them.
If you’ve got any obscure horror suggestions keep ‘em coming!

Watched one last night which has just dropped on Netflix- The Offering.

Set in the Jewish quarter of New York, a Rabbi whose wife has recently died, summons a demon who can return his wife back to life, but inadvertently summons a child killing demon by mistake.

it’s not a bad effort, atmospheric, spooky as hell and with a good cast, but it just falls that little bit flat as the demon is a bit Hammer Horror.

The remake of The Hills Hsve Eyes is good, as is the remake of Wrong Turn.

The recent one with Hugh Grant - Heretic is surprisingly good too.

Grant is really good, plays the part very well and looks like he’s having a ball.

Just finished a nine parter on FX - Say Nothing.

Dramatisation, based on the true events of the IRA bombing campaign in the 70’s.

Really good cast, although it’s hard getting your head around the lad who played the smack head Marco in the Responder playing a young Jerry Adams !

Well written and watches very much like something you’d normally see on BBC2 or C4

Not sure this one is going to be that funny at all to be honest.
