Quite bizarre really, it does beg the question,
'why would BS want to go to a middle of the table championship club ?'.
I suspect that he is/was being punted out by you know who.
Had, or if, a logical level of investment been made, without the blinkered piss poor control of the club, then we could be in that mid-championship position.
It also, imho, highlights the myopic viewpoint of owners who have 'missed the bus' on too many occasions.
Quite frankly, fuck off !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Answer to the question. Career progression. Playing at a higher level. Earning more money.

Is that a serious question?

It's the league above, the average wage is about 3 times as much. If he does well there he is a step closer to the top level.

Why would it be bizarre for him to go there?

I did look at it and the analogies you used suggested selling assets and gambling. It isn't if the asset is a pile of junk in the first place and someone offers a premium price. So yes it's all bollocks.

Morning Chaps,
As a Bees fan I was wondering if you wouldn't mind giving a summary of your thoughts on the Stevenson kid, as I'm wondering where he'll best fit in for us, if the clubs manage to agree a fee that suits both.
To me he looks like he's reasonably mobile, with a decent strike on him, but possibly looks lightweight (know he's still young though) and from some of the clips of your matches I was wondering if the defensive side of his game is the weakness?
Is my description fair/accurate or how would you best/better describe him?
Many thanks in advance for any insight.

Stevenson is rubbish, you don't want him

In seriousness, I have noticed defensively he has a knack to be able to take the ball off players but get possession of it. He kind of nips in and takes the ball away and then turns and goes the other way.

Haven't seen him flying in with crunching tackles or anything like that.

I will tell you once Bees have offered us a decent price for him (£3M+) and completed the signing

He's top quality. Good at winning the ball. Good at passing and moves the ball forward pretty quickly. Also looks after the ball well when in possession. If he keeps progressing at his current rate then he'll be in the premier league within 2 seasons.

His best attribute is his defensive work. He's very good at breaking up play and picking up loose balls. He's not going to go in for leg breaking tackles but he makes the defensive side of the game look effortless. He's a defensive midfielder for sure

Thanks mate (and the others who've replied since). Don't worry we've got the same situation with a rubbish striker nobody should be looking at

Your description sounds a bit like one we already have (McEachran) who's a talented passer and can nick the ball but so far has struggled with the Championship (and isn't solid enough in/around our box - which is why he's never made it as a first team regular imo). So as you can imagine the concern for me is they recruit another one of the same! Hopefully this kid is the real deal.

I'll stop posting and clogging up your board now (but any additional opinions on the kid welcome).

Good luck with the rest of your season.

The thing about Stevenson is he seems to have a good head on him and the will to put the effort to improve. Maddison, who we sold to Norwich last year, was arguably a better player for his age but had a bit too much arrgance about him.

Thanks. I think that "work-ethic" or "drive" is a very important thing and can be the difference between talent and a really successful player. All the best for what looks like a bit of a six-pointer this weekend.

Has he gone yet ?

CCFC translation: Has Slade been told by our Illustrious Leaders that they decide who is sold and for how much yet ?

He has, or will have the ability to control the tempo of games, a bit like Michael Carrick. Look at his goals though and you'll see how good his technique is.

This transfer is now becoming pretty important for us. He's a difference maker on the pitch and we're missing out by continually leaving him out of the starting 11 presumably while negotiations are ongoing, that said, we need to spend at least 500k of his fee on better players to keep us up. If Slade gets no cash from it we are royally fooked, if it drags on and on we'll slip further into the relegation abyss. Can Fisher get this right? Previous form says no.

Bees ready to abandon bid for Coventry City midfielder - West London Sport

Brentford are discussing new midfield targets after ending talks with Coventry over a potential deal to sign Ben Stevenson from the League One club.

The Bees had a second offer, of £1.5m, rejected by the Sky Blues last week.

The two clubs are far apart in their valuation, with Coventry wanting £2.5m for the 19-year-old.

Brentford are not currently planning to submit a third offer.

Should give them an ultimatum, offer the full asking price and complete the deal by 25th Jan latest, otherwise no deal

We will have done the opposite and said we will take less but it has to be on the last second of the window and obviously must be undisclosed

The board won't sell until the last hour which gives them the perfect excuse as to why they've spent no money. If they sold him now, we all know he's leaving it's just when, then they could at least reinvest half the fee in a new player...but they won't.

The people ruining not running our club are absolute scum. I don't doubt they have sunk £70 million into CCFC, £70 million worth of debt from the people they look after in their 'fund'. The priority is always making sure that shareholders and investors in their scams, people who more than likely have nothing whatsoever to do with CCFC, get a tidy payout whenever we flog a player or make a bit of cash.

To borrow a Frankie Boyle quote, I wouldn't pee on them if they were on fire in a urinal...I'd use the sink.

I'm talking debt that they've brought over from the scumbags who's interests they serve. Now the figure may be far less than £70 Million, the debt is probably nearer £40 Million as a completely uninformed guess. They'll still be looking for considerable profit if they ever sell which I don't think they will. I think that they will see the club liquidated as the only purpose it serves in their eyes is to keep the Wolf from the door of their clients. God alone knows who these clients are and what kind of filth they are involved in. Look at the complete asset stripping exercise they have run at the club. They'll be selling the cutlery before long. They are a complete cancer to this club.

Do you know who the investors are then? Care to share? Asset stripping? The Ricoh wasn't ours. The extortionate rent was, they stripped us of that. Agreed, the option of half the Ricoh with it. Ryton is still a CCFC asset, it's just held as security by ARVO against the debt.

Oh and comparing a disease that affects 1 in 3 people and kills millions to a football club is absurd. Have a word with yourself.
