RK, several of the daily papers were quoting that figure,
however, my point is that CCFC, do not seem to get just rewards for the promising talent that moves on.

That's because it never gets put back into the team mate.

That with 10-20% sell on clause is a bloody good deal for a player who's only played a handful of games.

Its about as likely as this

"Coventry City would only ever receive £1.5million if the 19-year-old goes on to play in the Premier League, plays 50 per cent of games, and makes England appearances,we understand."

Selling your kids cheap with a ton of add ons in the hope they'll fund you for years, is like spending all your poverty wages on lottery tickets, or swapping your cow for magic beans.

There's nothing wrong with add ones if they're realistic and achievable.

Nothing wrong with add ons. Something wrong with basing the financial future of your club on add ons. They should be a brucie bonus, not a key income stream.

It doesn't really help when your Chairman
goes public telling all and sundry the owners have no intention of supplying income /investment and he will cut everything if incomes reduce.
We all know these 4yr deals are hokum and any vulture out there is aware the same, they only need to see the books, but some pretence and ommission of the obvious could at least be applied.

Yep, in the same way as when we signed Jones, one source came up with
The figure of £700.000, which then to some became 100% fact.

Him appreciating in value over 12-18 months would surely match the cost of keeping him.
The problem is will SISU be willing to front the Club's losses in that period?

Football is a funny game especially at that age hero's can become zero's very quickly ie:conor thomas, bigi i say sell for the best price we can get and be clever with add on's and clauses 50% sell on clause cant see problem with that and the lad will be happy to be getting more money, unless it's the agent who wants more to put his commision up, wich i can understand .

Let's hope they take the "kids for a quid" advertising down today.... other clubs may get the wrong idea.

Nice to hear Slade confirming that we have turned down 2 bids for Ben. Sends a clear message that we won't be messed about. It sounds as it our January window plans don't hinge on the sales of the kids.

Think they would worry more about him depreciating in value if they kept him.

As someone has already said , when you have a chairman who makes a point about selling a player a season on national radio you will have clubs looking for cheap deals.
Again I use another post which included Harry Redknapp saying CW was signed by Bournemouth for peanuts.
The sixfields move destroyed this club and other teams knew we were desperate, and still are.

I got dissed when I said the business will be done on the last day of the window, but there is a chain here and I suspect everyone will hold out till then.
It would be less likely for it to be done earlier.

Really? I think you are in the minority with that opinion.

Internet reports now suggest that West Ham have met the 15 million valuation of Scott Hogan...

I think/hope we're being sensible holding out a bit longer in this process. Hogan get sold for there required fee, we then get our desired deal of the back of there windfall...

Really don't know what West Ham were pissing about at. Hogan will score goals and £15 mill is peanuts for a decent striker these days. Pay up or piss off.

Not seen much of him to be honest, didnt come through the usual routes, had a couple of serious knee injuries, the jury is still out for me.

Thats all bollocks really isn't it? It's making a decision on the best time to sell. Bigi is worthless so was a great sale, if we'd have sold Haynes for £0.5 million when he made two crosses against gillinghan there would have been uproar. As it happens he is also worthless. Someone once paid £3 million for Sordell. Getting it right either way is difficult.

Selling young players is hit or miss. The real failing of this club was not selling real assets like Westwood at a price.

Looks like they're after Sergi Canos now of Norwich, bidden £1.5mill for him, he's 19 who plays in midfield too.

It could be 5 million upfront ! wouldn't make any difference .
Slade would still have to wheel and deal ,ie loans and free transfers .

Quite bizarre really, it does beg the question,
'why would BS want to go to a middle of the table championship club ?'.
I suspect that he is/was being punted out by you know who.
Had, or if, a logical level of investment been made, without the blinkered piss poor control of the club, then we could be in that mid-championship position.
It also, imho, highlights the myopic viewpoint of owners who have 'missed the bus' on too many occasions.
Quite frankly, fuck off !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
