Dawkins says it done. Know he's a bit of an attention seeker but can't deny he's usually bang on with the info.

Not sure who. Maybe one of the coaching team? Won't be Dave Boddy as he was having a pop at him the other day on Twitter, which probably rules out people like Mark Hornby too. Also, some of his information has been wide of the mark, so assuming it's not one of the main decision makers.

Latest name linked; by Alan Nixon this time.

Arsenal U23 who had a very successful loan with Doncaster last season.
6'1 Centre Mid, 22 years old, can also play in defence.

Decent ball player & strong in the tackle, good signing if true.

What another one.

Afaik he’s only been getting info since the League 2 season where he was pals with Davies, Grimmer and McNulty and had a box with their family. I think Westbrooke was also part of it and Dawkins said he was told in training that he was no longer needed which is likely to have come from the player himself?

Straight competition for Kelly this one Kelly can’t play every game we need a player at the level to compete with him.

Competition and there to fill in when Kelly inevitably gets his injury during the season. Think it makes sense to give us a gradual transition from one to the other rather than having to find a replacement next season. Over the year I could see Kelly starting for the experience and leadership with Sheaf gradually betting more game time and by the end of the season Sheaf may well be the starter depending on how well he does. Was going to say the same of Pask with Fadz but if Rose is going to be out for a bit he'll be starting with him and Hyam.

This seems like a possibility. It's what we did with Kelly when we first bought him in alongside Doyle. Took a while to settle in, and no doubt Doyle played a part in his development. Not a bad way to build your squad year on year.

Makes perfect sense and I’d go as far to say the best way to build your squad, particularly with our resources. This is all a far cry from the huge player turnover (a large percentage of which were average to shite) we suffered every season pre MR’s return.

This is the beauty of having long term stability at our club.

The success Robins has brought us, he’s earned the opportunity to plan our squad over a long term period.

It’s also clear that we actually have a recruitment strategy, something we had lacked for years before MR came in.

Very happy with this, not only looks strong in the tackle but comfortable with both feet and good passing range, perfect for our system

When looking at the squad, this signing makes sense. Will it happen or not, who knows?

But going forward, if this is the type of player we are actually looking at, I think it bodes well for the general health of the squad.

Depth will be key with games coming thick and fast, and spending a fee for a squad player might of seemed ludicrous in the lower leagues, but in the championship it makes sense.

The backup needs to be quality, simple as! Rotation is paramount next season, and I believe this is what Robins is preparing for.

Robins has been burnt a couple of times in the championship with different clubs. I believe he has learnt from those mistakes and is building a squad accordingly.

I’m seeing a lot of Doncaster fans are reporting that he’s good for ten minutes of the 90! They’re saying he’s capable of doing well but appears lackluster most games for the majority. That being said a few have said he’s good quality but not championship ready.

The videos show he’s got the strength we need in midfield and he looks like he’s willing to compete for the ball. They said he gives it away a lot but then again I swear they said Marosi was a terrible keeper so I don’t believe a word they’re saying and have faith that MR and Badlan know who they’re bringing through the door as most of our signings haven’t disappointed for the majority!

Although that’s three videos compiled showing he clearly is able to challenge for the ball and win it comfortably, he has the strength I think we strongly need and he seems to be a good playmaker it just looks he was a lot more creative than the rest of the Doncaster team. Watching some of the footage I think if he was playing with our boy’s half of them would have been netted.

"Agree. He's got the technical ability. Might take a few games but should be a long term quality signing wherever he ends up playing and would be a good Walsh replacement for them."

  1. Never seen a player give the ball away as much
  2. I think when you have players of his quality and potential, when he does make an error or has a poor game, it stands out more than it should.?
  3. Correct, and it's also because he tries more "key" passes than most others. His passing stats are all good, some in the top five for the entire league, and that is because Ben Sheaf tries to make things happen going forward so when it doesn't come off it looks worse and feels like a bigger disappointment for fans.If he irons that out of his game he will be a phenomenal midfielder.

Not all bad!

Heard similar he can get caught in possession and give the ball away this is probably down to experience,at Arsenal you know how they play he might be taking too long releasing the ball, nothing a good coaching team can’t iron out.Lets not forget he played all but 4 games for them last season.

Does anyone remember him when we played them ?

Doncaster fans say he gives the ball away a lot..... He had a higher pass completion (over 82%) than any of our players last season and only two players in the league completed more passes per game.

That and the fact people are quick to criticize like I mentioned before look what their fans said about Marco and how that turned out. Like said above easy things I think that can be straightened out and he seems to possess the skill sets as require so it’s just fine tuning it down to a tee.

I think we’ll only find out once he gets a few games under his belt alike that of Hilssner I seen some dafties calling him out on Facebook after the rangers game it was the guys first game in a shirt in a pre-season friendly!

I think the only downfall with this league though is that we need results quickly.

Though what you said the stats show a different reality and the videos to what they’re saying! But everyone I find is quick to slag people off more than praise them.

Walsh had a habit of giving the ball away a lot early on in his spell with us by trying to do too much going forward or in dangerous areas. If Sheaf is similar and we manage to train it out of him in the same way but he's also over 6ft and strong in the tackle he'll be a hell of a footballer.
