Bedworth United defender Dominic Reece has been handed a six-month suspension by the Football Association.

The Greenbacks player was sent off for pushing the referee in their 4-3 victory at Biggleswade Town on Tuesday, 9 November.

Reece, who will now miss the rest of the Zamaretto Division One Central season, was also fined £150.

Boss Bernie Cope told the Coventry Telegraph: "It looks as though the FA have thrown the book at him."

He added: "I did not see the incident but others that did said it was just a push, nothing more and just a spur of the moment reaction.

"If what I'm been told is correct, and I've got no reason to believe any different, it certainly wasn't as bad as what the officials' statement suggests.

"It is down to Dominic as to whether he wants to appeal against the decision but I do feel the powers that be have gone overboard."
