Frankly this is ridiculous, if you ask anyone what was Beckhams last game for England where he had a huge influence you have to go back 10 years.
He has been incredibly lucky. Many of his caps of late have been substitute appearances all of which was designed to get him the outfield capped record.
He is also selfish. He was not fit enough to go to Japan and should have stated away. The entourage that follows him makes the while thing a circus and in tournaments has always been a distraction. He should have quit after Svens last game but didn't and immediately heaped pressure on his successor.
As a proper footballer his days are long, long gone. If Beckham cared about anything but himself he would have recognised the issue and admitted unsuitability for selection in the tournament.
He is a very opulent self serving individual. The quickest he ever ran for England was a sprint from one side of the pitch to the other when England scored the fifth in Gernany - just so he could be in the photo.

To explain it to you I'd probably need a selection of crayons and a Janet and John book.

Spot on. I would add he's only been like that since going out with Victoria. Fergie saw what she was doing to him too and he didn't like it either.

D-

Go and stand in the corner.

Whilst there think about this comment....

i personally couldnt give a shit if we won it or not in my opinion this should be about rewarding those who have had great careers ie beckham, giggs and maybe scholesy

Then feel free to explain why a Great Britain Olympic Squad should be about rewarding people who have great careers? Is this not what club testimonials are for? What relevance does it have to an Olympic Squad?

After this I'd probably ask Mummy to make sure you're cocoa isn't too hot before bed.

So he is the most influential ever? Off the pitch more influential than Jimmy Hill whose single minded persuit of the abolition of the minimum wage paved the way to the modern game? On the pitch more influential than Sir Bobby Moore, Billy Wright or Geoff Hurst. Can you justify that statement or do you also think Cheryl Cole is the "best singer ever"?

They are all playing football in a competitive league and of it wasn't them selected there would be 50 more in the queue ahead of Beckham.

i stand by the comment, do you want elaborate or is it time for your bed bath? Can you for example tell me why Giggs is there? he plays 1 game in 3 maybe 4....(i think he is being rewarded ) bellamy? had a shit season last term and is on the down in his career(rewarded)........richards who wouldnt go on standby for England?????? shouldnt be near another England squad again due to his total lack of commitment so oh guess what reward with a place in team GB

No and if Beckham had an opportunity to return to the premier league in the last 18 months he would have grabbed it. Giggs' selection is justified because he can still compete in the Premier League which is well beyond Beckham now. Bellamy whatever his "eccentricities" is of course superior as a player and Richards is a defender anyway.

bellamy is superior to whom? and i think beckham could compete playing 1 in 4 games like giggs, the mls isnt a pub league and the guy keeps himself fit training everyday.....i believe gareth bale wanted to play.....who would be better giggs or bale??????? lets face it giggs isnt there on any other merit than being rewarded for a great career

I couldn't agree more. Didn't Robbie Fowler say something similar in his book about Beckham running quickest to get to the goalscirer when England scored.

Not everything Robbie says is necessarily right, but can anybody be in doubt about the Beckham ego whether Robbie says so or not?

His ego and need to be one of the 1st involved in any England goal celebrations would suggest different. I admire your manly love of Becks though, it's nice some people are in touch with their feminine side.
