Haven't had a beard for some years but thought I'd grow one and see how it looks ? Bit of a shock at first seeing all the grey hair ! But thought sod it I'll keep it short and neat, and like it now. Had the Father Christmas jokes off customers, but mainly positive comments. Only downside is the itching, forgot that happens. Other than that I'll keep it I reckon until I get fed up with it. Not the ZZTOP look though !

Tried on a few occasions and partly down to lethargy, especially this time of year.
White whiskers ,check.
Itching, check.
Cannot get passed day 5-7 when the itching becomes unbearable .

Grew a beard as part of my post divorce life crisis. Love it now. Too long and it gets annoying and it needs trimming twice as much as my hair which is annoying during lockdown. Get some oil in it and a proper beard brush.

No itching once it’s settled in.

I have a very short beard, more well kept stubble than a beard. I have really sensitive skin and both electric and wet shaving cut me to ribbons, break my skin down and bring me out in sores so I’ve had stubble/beard most of my adult life. Used to let it grow longer but it’s mostly grey now so I keep it short for the same reasoning as yourself. Not sure I’d look right without it now it’s been with me so long

I grew a beard a few years ago when my wife was away volunteering in Kenya for 3 months, Didn’t get overly long & I shaved it off in stages just to wind her up on FaceTime. Full beard, goatee then moustache.
With the goatee she said I looked like a rapist & the moustache made me look like René from ‘Allo Allo!! Safe to say I’m mostly clean shaven now.

I've had a beard for some years now. I always had a moustache for years beforehand, which looking back, made me look like an 80's porn star! (keep those comments to yourselves!). Anyhoos, these days I'm very grey and really like my beard. I keep it short, using a Wahl beard trimmer set on Number 1. I trim it just once a week. Going on from this, I've decided to grow my hair again. No reason. I used to give myself a number one cut all over but now I've decided to let it grow again. Not sure I like it though.

The top picture could have been taken this summer at the Slough, as that's the look most have in that area these days. In fact that would be considered trendy !

Before I became old and decrepit, I loved angling. That one was taken many years ago (1993/4?) when I was fishing one day at Somers Rd Fisheries in Meriden.

Which one H? There's the game fishing lakes and the coarse fishing on the other side.
I'd imagine the coarse fishery because they don't allow riff raff on the game one!!
You're right Clint. It used to be Gearys, but I've no idea what they're all called now.
Here's another, taken on the same day! (I used to have to fight the women off me in those days!)

Had a beard for last 45 years (apart from a 1yr gap about 6yrs ago). It used to be mainly black with streaks of ginger but is now more grey than anything. Hair on head still very dark and no grey at all (although thinning at a rapid rate).
Trim it every couple of weeks or so...cut level 3
When I did shave it off all my daughters (in their 20s then) hated it and wanted my beard back. Eldest granddaughter calls me Grandad Beardy and all the other grandchildren join in.

28 on Wednesday and still struggling to grow a proper beard.

Probably a good thing, as what I can grow is bright ginger! Dark head hair with proper Irish facial hair 🤷‍♂️ :ROFLMAO:
Mine used to be proper ginger back when I first grew one in the mid eighties (the stuff on top was very blond).
Now it's mostly grey, and much longer, with gingery threads in it. Funnily enough the top stuff is still quite blond (with a dash of salt).
It's more Billy Gibbons than groomed. Hardly touched it with a blade since March. The ambition is to use it instead of a face mask. Nearly there...

Masks are a saviour .
Forgot to put my bridge in last night to pop up the corner shop, the one I'm boycotting as I've only ever once seen someone else with a mask on in there this whole time , principles went out the window due to tobacco.😒

On the round today I was cleaning the windows of a regular customer and she came out with a mug of tea for me. She likes a chat and I could see her looking at me with a puzzled look on her face. Then she said " you've grown a beard,I knew you looked different." I replied what do you think then ? Said it suits me but pity it's nearly all grey !

Dark hair but for some reason whenever I tried to grow one in my 20' and 30's it came in ginger, not really the look I was going for. Grew one about six years ago and it came in a grey, which I was chuffed to bits with. Keep it closely trimmed and about once a month shave it off completely to let the air get to my skin. One thing I have noticed is that the hairs are really quite soft, apart from the odd one in random places that seem really sharp, unlike the rest of them.

Grew one the last two years after pressure to do it for Movember and liked it cos it kept my face warm through winter but not done it this year cos it's a bacteria magnet.

I look better without it though as it's ginger with flecks of white while my hair is much darker and very curly. First month with the itching is a bitch. Tend to only shave one or twice a week tops cos get red raw skin if I do it regularly so spend half the week looking a bit unkempt but still better than looking like I have some horrific skin disease.

Upside, though, is that its a great place to store food. Found a barbecued chicken wing in mine yesterday while I was out walking the mutt.
Life saver.

The longest I can get to is about 30 days.. by which time my beard resembles the head of a Weasley, which looks even more daft as I am blonde.
