Absolute disgrace from BBC.

Oh, wait…

“She received the most votes from readers of the BBC Sport website after a five-player shortlist was announced last month.”

The BBC are quick to distance themselves from this.

Orlando Pride and Zambia striker Banda was one of five contenders shortlisted for the accolade for their achievements over the last 12 months, chosen by a panel of experts including coaches, players, administrators and journalists.

This panel did not include any BBC personnel, and the winner was voted for by the public.

Fair enough if you want to make a song and dance about her testosterone levels (even if you are two years late), but how is declaring her “a man” remotely helpful?

Yeah c'mon Nick, that's a divvy comment.

Whilst not a scientist, I assume she's got higher testosterone levels than your average female. A bit like Caster Semanya.

To say she's a man is a silly comment.

Before passing judgement either way, can we confirm if her cock is an inny or an outy?

Caster is a man who has fathered children, mere details I guess.

Really? Hiding in plain sight in a women’s dressing room in Florida for several months now?

It’s not so much political correctness as an indication you don’t really take the issue seriously.

There’s a question to be asked about her testosterone levels for sure (or at least, there was two years ago, people don’t seem to have had an issue until just now), but running around saying “it’s a man” is just unhelpful posturing around an unusual situation that you knew absolutely nothing about this time last week.

There's a serious discussion to be had about the fairness of people with intersex conditions competing in women's sport, but calling people born that way 'men' displays a profound degree of ignorance and prejudice.

I think it probably says something about you that the thing that's drawn you out of lurking and compelled you to post is to make a disparaging remark about someone whose personal circumstance you know nothing about. A remark that not only denigrates them as an individual, but also anyone who may have happened to have been born with the same possible conditions.

For me, it was Haji Wright being given as offside in a big cup game that drew me out, but I guess that we're all different.

The one with testicles and no uterus?

Weird how saying it's a man is worse than letting a male punch a woman's head in.

It's almost as if it's not as binary or straightforward as prejudiced reactionaries think.

Depends on the motive I think.

You can be anything you want to be, but let's not pretend blokes in women's sport don't have an advantage and I'd wager most have already failed in men's competition.

Its a spit in the face for women in Sport - yet again. Biologically the person is a male.

Just because she’s got more testosterone than some of the soy boys on here doesn’t make her a man

The footballer has, like Samaya, I assume been incorrectly classified as female at birth. This is a situation that occurs predominantly in African countries when there is considerable shame around DSD which I assume this individual has. It means the person has a lack of normal sexual development.

The crucial differentiator is the ignorance around testosterone levels. You have said they have high levels for a woman. No, its normal levels for a man as the person biologically is male. They will be XY chromosome - a man.

The sex verification test was failed was it not? So this is discrimination against females in sport.

You may be happy with that with your smug AI reference - I am not

On 6 July 2022, Banda and three teammates including striker Racheal Kundananji were ruled ineligible to compete for Zambia in the World Cup-qualifying tournament, Africa Cup of Nations, after a gender verification test found that their natural testosterone levels were above those allowed by the Confederation of African Football

You have to laugh:
In 2021, Banda launched the Barbra Banda Foundation which aims to support programs that promote empowerment for women and girls on issues of economic inequality, gender-based violence, lack of access to equal opportunities
