It was obviously an attitude thing.

He was Lampard's first choice striker for a period of time, keeping Simms and BTA on the bench so FL obviously didn't have a problem with his ability (or potential ability) -though I didn't see it myself, he always looked very average to me.

His goal was good but it took a big deflection before it speared in.

Think the opposite really. Quite re-assuring that the Club (King, we imagine) wanted to keep him presumably to protect the outlay but Lampard had the final say. Suggests a good working relationship between owner and Lampard?

Bomb squading players is never ideal

He certainly doesn't appear to put up with punts taken by the recruitment team that MR was it seems?

He wasn't bomb squaded. He trained with the first team until he left on loan.

Think it's purely about his attitude.
The only player I've sensed any animosity towards from Lampard.

I thought early on that Bassette is all bark and no bite and that probably grates on someone like Lampard who actually was world class.

Sounds like the club thought they'd made a coup signing him and were going to be quids in. Didn't work out.

I liked him as a player but his attitude clearly rubbed Lampard up the wrong way.

There were rumours (via Michael Byng) that Bassette and Binks had a bit of a training ground bust up.

There has been lots of speculation about Bassette being moved on because of some epic falling out behind the scenes, but I think it’s equally as possible that he was moved on because he just wasn’t very good.
