Transfer Rumour Bassette to FC Utrecht (39 Viewers)

If Lampard doesn't rate him, he is going to want to get his own players in so we need to ship them out if people will take them.

If he is about to leave, would hope we have striker targets as it doesn't leave us with much at all...

Always thought highly of him since he came. Needs a good amount of playing time next season so a loan would be handy.

If he gets a good 15-20 goals then maybe they push for a permanent.

Happy with this provided we get a decent striker in, can’t be relying on Simms/BTA as back up all year, and tbh I’d rather see Haji out wide on the left and leave room for a decent striker, I think Haji’s better when he plays wider. So maybe loaning out Basette and getting some quality in would be the best thing to do.

He's young and enthusiatic, but let's be honest he got recognition solely because of his antics I think it was again Sunderland or Sheff Utd where he got a player sent off and winked which the camera caught, those antics lofted him into a cult hero and it is why Newcastle became interested in him. Other than that he hasn't done much and a year's loan would really mature him and put him on the pitch regularly. I get it he is only 20 and possibly has a great future but he will not be a loss with the style of play FL wants.

Being enthusiastic puts him ahead of Simms straight away.

No problem with him going on loan somewhere for a year to get some game time, but not a fan of an option to buy. I really think he’s got the potential to become a top top player

He has no indication he will be a top player and he has an awful attitude on the pitch which isn’t a positive

Would be a good move for him. Exciting time at the club right now. Going through Europa league qualification as it stands. Will be hoping to go to a few games actually, so very curious if this move does happen.

Utrecht are crying out for a striker, so I would imagine he would get some reasonable game time.
So are we and he’s getting none, which raises some questions.

On Bassette:
"It’s tactical. I've got 20 players here tonight. Sometimes you can't pick players, that's the way it is. The players who don't get picked have to train, train, train as well as they can to try and force their way into the squad, and understand that those are the levels”

I know people are convinced he’s the next Jamie Vardy or something because he pulls a face every time he wins a throw-in, but if Lampard doesn’t rate him and a team is willing to let us make back our (slightly ridiculous) transfer fee on him then I would bite their hand off at this point.
