Jesus , is Norm the new boo boy now JDS is playing well and Collins looking more assured ?
I just want every player wearing our shirt to play well , yes criticise but don't ostracise
He was playing against a team with 10 men chasing the game. You'd expect him to get more touches.
There's just no maturity or intelligence about the way he plays. After a stint out the side I expected him to be better.
Stupid commentYou'd better tell Lampard. I'm sure he'd appreciate your knowledge and advice.
Obikwu seems to be made of glass.
We have to give Bassette time. He's still very raw.
Yesterday,.for some reason,.he didn't even look match fit. His touch was awful and his positioning poor too.
We have to give him time though. There's no rush
On Simms push, never mind a blatant penalty that was assault. As bad as the EMC (non) penalty v Stoke I think when keeper flattened him.I agree with those that think he’ll come good. Tough call about loaning him, which would no doubt do him some good but he’s also exactly the type of player we should have as third or forth striker….young, developing and got enough ability to cause teams problems
Had a poor cameo yesterday but those 10 min spells are never easy. Also showed that simms was probably more effective than many realise during the game. He was a handful/nuisance occupying the CBs again even though it didn’t really fall for him. Anyone seen a replay of the push in the back/potential pen on Simms second half ?
As a player coming onto the pitch for about 15 minutes, it is likely you will only get two or three touches. It is not easy to get into a game that is established and pick up the pace of the game. The first time you touch the ball you need it to be a good one.
Fans think every sub should be some super sub or at least as good or if not better than who they replaced. Subs are a gamble and often successful substitutions are as much luck as good judgement.
It is why sometimes managers are reluctant to make changes. Against WBA FL delayed bringing two players on because we were defending a succession of corners. Leave the players on who are focused and up to match speed.
Once the ball was cleared up to the half way line for a throw in, he brought them on. The delay while the subs come on also helps break up WBA's attacking momentum.
I don't judge subs too harshly. They need a good 20-30 minutes of game time to have a fair chance of really getting into the game. Otherwise it is as much luck as anything. Bassette's job was to come on and just run around with fresh legs to press defenders and be disruptive.
Can confirm, correctly remembered.Against WBA FL delayed bringing two players on because we were defending a succession of corners. Leave the players on who are focused and up to match speed.

Playing off Simms would work. He's not ready to lead the line as a sole striker.
There's plenty of raw ability, but he's got to be paired up with Simms or as an impact sub.
Playing off Simms would work.
Classic big lad little lad, well not little but rapid.
Could probably do with more than 10 minutes also.
I dunno, he's looked more like making the ball stick up top recently. He seems to win headers and whatnot more regularly.Simms offers nothing for other forwards to work with
He's not good enough to lead the line nor play off another striker at this level atm....far from itPlaying off Simms would work.

I could imagine Bassette doing better in a strike partnership (he’s hopeless as a lone striker) but there is also zero chance of us adapting our style/formation just to accommodate him.Playing off Simms would work.

I don't think you can say he scores plenty...
Fair enough, I misread what you'd postedI didn't. I said he's playing in a team that scores plenty, and that I think he plays his part in that.
Fair enough, I misread what you'd posted
I think the issue is we only have one striker (Wright) that has been a constant goal threat.
Simms, BTA and Bassette havn't produced the goods, Bassette gets a pass (imo) due to being young and inexperienced, and he's clearly one for the future, but the other 2 have failed to deliver.
That needs to be addressed before next season.
