He wasn't getting an opportunity at CCFC, so he went elsewhere for more money.
Would any of us act differently?
Ponticelli next.

Your obsession with Ponticelli is beyond weird.

Sambou believed he was better than he was. He thought he should've been playing first team football for us, and when it didn't happen he went to play for Everton Reserves. Ruined his own career from what I remember, certainly would've been further along now had he stayed.

Would he ?. We’d likely be saying the same about pontichelli if he left to play for prem reserves. Reality is this kid is now on a lot more money and will get another club in the FL somewhere and can easily kick on

As far as I was aware Everton offered him a new contract and he top scored for the U23 last season as they won the league.

Does seem a bit full of himself wanting gametime at PL just like here as an academy player expecting to be in the first team but most forwards are full of themselves. Never understood why he moved to Everton when he cited wanting gametime for turning down the pro contract with us when chances are he'd have had quite a bit of time on the pitch the following season as a full pro.

Would've liked to see what he could do but he chose to leave so that's up to him - pretty much everyone at the time knew this is what would happen just like with Thomas. We've now got Ponti and Bremang as the largely unproven young pros now and a plethora of first team strikers (albeit one's who aren't exactly clinical) so can't see a place for him and I imagine in L1 he'd be (wrongly) expecting to be the first choice no9.

If your opening paragraph is correct then that justifies his move to Premiership Everton rather than stay with a third division club, might have even been fourth division when he moved.

Ponticelli would only attract offers from teams that play on Coundon Wedge on a Sunday

He’d have to loose a bit of timber first!

He left the close season that we went on to be relegated. He’d have been given his chance in L1 that season as TM didn’t sign a striker that summer & we were without anyone up front that had a goal scoring record.

Mowbray was playing George Thomas ahead of him.

Thomas was playing on the right wing?

Bass was still in the youth team the season before he left in the Summer.
