I mentioned on the match day thread that I fear he's not got over his career threatening injury. He seems afraid to tackle.

tbh I doubt he could tackle before either

To be fair the injury must be really playing on his mind, my brother had the same thing happen (looked down and his foot was facing the other direction) and was a half decent player. Can't play anymore as everytime he went into a tackle just had flashbacks and pulled out, of the tackle that is.... Still doesn't sound great

I really sympathise with him in this respect so I think the best course of action would be to sit him out for at least two months minimum, keep him busting his arse in training and try and get his head right!

If your head ain't in it, it doesn't matter what the body can do or what skills you possess!

Oh and I know we can't afford to carry him but that's based on if we are to keep him and benefit from his skill and potential!

Agree.

Play him in the under 21 squad we've got. See if he can build any confidence there. At the moment he is a liability unfortunately.

Tbf though, PNE fans said he didn't like tackling, getting stuck in, etc. and he hasn't played for them since breaking his leg so their assessment was based on him prior to his injury.

Didn't know that. Always thought it was 'post.'

Not impressed at all then.

Me neither! Very disappointing if we had scouted him prior to his injury and still opted to recruit him on this basis

Moussa has been just as, or even worse than Barton in the last 2 games. Moussa is better out wide!

Worst player on the pitch today. Seems to have all the attributes to be class player it just never happens. I'd rest him for a few games see if he cam get his act together or let him go

Just browsing through the Cherries forum to see what they thought of the made and saw this..

Coventry's Adam Barton's performance was notable for being the single worst individual performance I have ever witnessed, overtaiking Barnet's Clovis Kamdjo who was woeful during a 3-0 home win in our promtion year.

Something's got to give.

Would expect him to be dropped now following his removal at half-time today. Would think once Henderson is fit he'll be ahead of him in the pecking order, then there's Connor Thomas too to consider.

It was another in an ever-increasing list of astute moves by Robins to get Barton off at half time. If he'd left it 10 minutes the atmosphere could have been pretty ugly and Barton's confidence could have been even more severely dented.

Again, I thought we saw flashes from him today, but that's all we're getting at the moment. It's so frustrating, because he's definitely got the ability.

We've been saying that about David Bell for the past 3 and half years too.

Problem is Sutty we've been there before - Eastwood had ability, Thornton had ability, Bell has ability.

You're spot on and I hope Barton doesn't go the same way. The early signs aren't good.

I think people are being a bit harsh on him, hasn't been too bad as some are making out, had a couple bad performances but as a team, we have been pretty bad!

Clearly has talent and it is frustrating seeing him waste it a bit but to suggest he should be transfer listed is way ott and I think he coud, should come good!

Based on what? Certainly not one of his appearences for city.

Unless of course you are basing it on Linnell's assessment.

Was v surprised to see his inclusion in the starting XI but would have subbed him at half time myself (just like Robbins). He doesn't like the 50/50 challenges and despite obviously silky skills can't see the obvious attacking pass that would set 'free' a team mate making a run (usually McGoldrick).

May be one for the future but right now he's best suited to super sub appearances.
