I've not seen us press like that before, I imagine that's how city will approach games now until the season end...
The press yesterday genuinely knackered Brentford, one of the best passing sides in the division, and best counter attacking side in the league, they struggled from start to finish to deal with us.
We pressed very very high Compared to normal and were relentless in our pursuit of the ball , Kelly sat in the hole and hamer helped ohare, Biamou and Walker, da Costa and Maccallum... It worked perfect, they couldn't play their game at all.

Testiment to the fitness levels too, remember Bristol City opening day, lads looked cheesed... Come a long way.

We have to surely play this way all season now, Barnsley show that it's effective and can make up somewhat for ability and force mistakes / turn overs of possession...

Would hopefully see us finish the season strong

It’s risky defending so high up the pitch, you need to be ultra fit, disciplined and well organised to let the opposition have the ball, but 75% of the teams in this league can’t deal with it if you get it right.

We had 38% possession but it felt like we were always on the ball, weird but great to watch.

Defenders did alot less pass side to side in our own half and we tried to play the matcH in their half.

Effective, very effective

This is the point of the season where we find out if having 6 months off last spring and summer helps us compared to those who had to play through. Hopefully that break works in our favour and other teams begin to tire, which will make our pressing all the more potent. But it's a relatively new approach for us to press like that, so who knows

Yep. We tried the playing out from the back and kept on getting pressed and losing the ball but up until yesterday it's not something we ourselves had tried. Even the best teams like Man City and Liverpool fuck it up and concede goals, but they've got quality that if they do break through they'll likely score. At this level it's not quite as likely and the risk/reward is a much better balance.

I hope we continue it for teams that try to play out but as said it'd need high fitness and crucially clever substitutions in game to ensure the intensity can remain high as players tire.

We should definitely play the high pressing game for the rest of the season, it helps that we can make 5 changes to maintain the high press for the full 90 minutes.

It becomes a dreadful spectacle when you come up against teams that don’t want the ball. It’s like Wimbledon v Sheffield United in late 80s early 90s .

Let’s not get too carried away.. we play Swansea away Wednesday, this will not be easy . Let’s see if Robins presses in the same way as yesterday . If he pulls it off then that’s the way forward but let’s not go their and play for a draw !

No , I still think he’s too lazy . Don’t chase back . Godden is our main target man who moves around and looks for the ball more than Walker .

You are like the idiot I used to sit behind at Highfield Road who constantly slaughtered Huckerby for not chasing back

looking at some stills from yesterday there were times when it looked absolute madness that Brentford continued to play it our from the back given how much on top of them we were, (something we've been guilty of), the second goal was a prime example.

I remember Lineker not for his goals for England but his constant chasing back and defending the penalty area

No we would be better off with a headless chicken who runs all day for nothing than a natural goal scorer who puts his chances away

can't find any stats on how much he ran bet he got man of the match on Infogols and Soccercritic to go with his one from Sky, (Infogols make their assessment on multiple data points though i'm not sure what they are).

Think the general consensus is his goals outweigh his ability to impersonate Forrest Gump.
