Ball tampering (1 Viewer)

Why is it in cricket players are allowed to deliberately shine a ball on their trousers to alter the way a ball spins? I know ball tampering is a bit more extreme but isn't the same intent shown by players who shine?

P.s I don't watch cricket

It's just certain things yu can and cannot do. You cannt use a foreign object or anything, but you can shine it on your trouser leg or use saliva.

Scuffing up a ball permanently changes it. It can’t be reversed. Polishing it will lose it’s effect after a couple of deliveries.

Why not change the ball after every couple of overs? The same bowler shouldn't be allowed to bowl two consecutive overs with the same ball. They could have half a dozen balls that they alternate between.
