Worked his arse off yesterday, was closed down very quickly, to be fair they were nearly all hopeless first half yesterday, at least Baker was giving 100% I think the added competition will help. I thought he may have got a knock but he seemed fine today.

Didn't think he was shocking on Saturday although when he went off the team's performance didn't half improve

Was awful first half but was not the only one. I think a few of them need a rest.

They are all off until Wednesday so hopefully that will help, but I think a few of them need to miss a game. I guess the cup game next week is as good a time as any.

He put a picture if his shin on his Facebook (not often you hear that!!) and looked like he had chunks missing from his leg! He commented 'not even a foul!'.

Our game was upped when he went off, yes, but when we only have kids to change our team, I wouldn't go resting him at the minute. We do need a change to make way for Maguire, but I trust SP's judgement as to wen this change is required (especially if Maguire hasn't started a game for two months!)

Baker is one of our best players. Yes he was probably off his game yesterday but don't write him off so quickly........He will be back!

Big fan on Bakers, but needs a rest, he's played an awful lot of games this season.

Played less than Murphy, moussa, Wilson, Leon, Jordan. Thomas, fleck, Webster, Adams.

Baker played 16...they have all played 20 or more.

I think he's the weakest link in the side. Hard to say that given his goal tally and assists last season. He is capable, but he just doesn't seem to be as capable as the rest of playing quick thinking, high pressing, passing football that Pressley wants.

Fantastic club man, but i think if we had a suitable replacement is prefer to be able to turn to him on the bench.

Personally I would play all the kids against Hartlepool. Blank the cups this year, its the league we want. Rest as many first teamers as we can. On top of the 3 days rest they are getting now it will be good for them. COmpletely fresh for the Crewe game.

People are so rude about Baker when he is technically one of our most gifted players. He makes mistakes because he frequently takes risks that - when they go wrong - make him look stupid, but when they go right often result in defence splitting passes or completely skinning an opponent. Someone like Moussa on the other hand, while he obviously has ability, spends about 70% of matches doing absolutely nothing yet no one gives him half as much shit as Baker. The amount of times I've heard him getting called a scouse c*** when he is almost always our most committed player and the one who is so desperate for us to do well really starts to p*** me off.

Personal abuse isn't on.

However, he also stole a week's paypacket in the Rotherham game...Constantly gave the ball away, even when not attempting a defence splitting pass.

He had 3 players on him every time he got the ball, they did a job on him such that SP had to substitute him! however in doing that MK lost the plot because those 3 guys who should have been kept occupied on the left hand side moved infield and comitted the fouls just outside the box where mcguire did his party piece.

Thats how I saw it too. Both Baker and Moussa were doubled up on (sometimes three defenders). Clear tactic to stop the suply to the lads up front. Good move to take him off, but it seemed puerly tactical to me.

Thankfully it seems that we have enough talent in the side for specific 'job' tactics to leave other players with more space to cause havoc.

Just find his distribution has been poor lately, he works hard yes but as a midfielder his distribution is key. Rest him

He blows hot and cold for me and as such needs a rest to "reset" every now and again. Most flair players are like that.

By all accounts Maguire isn't match fit so even if he starts I'd expect Baker to get some game time.

how many pay packets did he earn last year with his 15 goals?

the guy makes things happen on the pitch. we need players who will take the game by the scruff of the neck.

i am not opposed to him having a rest but he shouldn't get anywhere as much stick as he does.

Baker - positives
not afraid to shoot
not afraid to take a man on
Good leader

Negatives
Cant tackle
Poor passer
Poor at tracking back
Bad temper (relegation season, the sending off v leicester had a massive impact on our confidence and ultimate relegation)

overall i would use him only from the bench if we had the resources (unfortunately unless we keep Mcguire, then he will have to start)

Poor at tracking back? Really? I'm not saying he's excellent at it, but atleast he tries to win the ball back and always covers his RB when were defending. If you compare this attribute to Moussa on the other side, Baker is miles ahead of what Moussa is!

It wasn't Saturday that made me think he's the weak link. I agree they did a job on him, never had any time on the ball.

I rate him, I just don't think he particularly suits this system or style.

I'll Never fault his commitment or effort, and I'd have him in the squad, I just think this season, with this style of play, he's perhaps not quite got the attributes required.

I think he needs to play in cup game this Saturday and he is due a good performance. I think Maguire's impact will have given him a kick up the ass and he will have a stormer at Harthepool....hope so anyway with Wilson out we need him to!

ok - physically he tracks back , but what he does when he does track back is typically poor, and often ends with a foul, or him being outwitted

IMHO the only position for baker is behind the front 2

We are a League 1 side with on the whole League 1 players and a bunch of developmental players.

We could go through and criticise anyone one of them. He is still in our top 15 players. Is he playing his best, is he in his best position, open for debate?

Something fans sometimes overlook is, what does a player contribute in the dressing room?

I agree a bit of competition may help. Sometimes it takes the pressure off ironically as much as it kicks people up the backside.

It's not just bodies we have needed it is options. I suggested Pressley might go with three centre backs. At MK Dons we saw him do that even if towards the end.

You cannot be successful with one dimension. A full season, suspension, injuries, loss of form, the opposition just don't allow it.

I don't think Baker is brilliant but he'd get into most sides in League 1.

A good League One player, which is what he was when we signed him.

No better than League One, but for where we are he's good enough.
